It is important to make sure your Homeowners Insurance is up to date

October 30th, 2007

Whether you have Allstate, Liberty Mutual or any other Insurance company, you need to make sure your Homeowners insurance is up to date. With the California wildfires raging on, Tony Vecchiotti of Sodus (NY) Insurance Agency says it’s a good time to make sure all of your insurance policies are up to date. If a homeowner loses a house to fire, a typical homeowner’s insurance policy would pay 100 percent to rebuild it, if the home is adequately insured. Many homes in Upstate New York are underinsured. Talk to an agent, tell them how your house is laid out, what kind of rooms that you have, the style of the house, any additions that you’ve made or improvements like a three-walled addition or a custom kitchen or custom bathroom. These things can really change the replacement cost from what’s generally in your neighborhood. Agents also recommend taking pictures or making videos of the things in your house and storing those pictures somewhere safe. This is especially true for people who have expensive items like electronics, antiques or artwork.

If you have insurance questions, please call Tony Vecchiotti at 315-483-6905 or email him at [email protected]
