Ecospace Geeks Cycle Around the World – Stage Two!

July 6th, 2010

London, United Kingdom (25 June, 2010) – Ecospace, provider of bespoke and modular building designs, have told how their company director and one of their key architects, Lee Town, has helped to raise money for the charity Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) by cycling from Paris to Marseille.

Medecins Sans Frontieres are a humanitarian organisation who provide medical assistance to over 70 countries where the population is in need of urgent assistance. A cause close to his heart, Ecospace director Lee Town and two other friends straddled their saddles and pledged to cross the vast bulk of France in order to raise awareness and funds for MSF.

Their journey saw them cross the Loire Valley to Lyon before following the Rhone Valley through Avignon, eventually working their way over Alpilles Mountains. They reached their destination of Marseilles on the eighth day, taking a well-deserved swim in the sea to relax after completing such a tiring feat. They averaged approximately 73 miles per day on their 580 mile journey and reached a top speed of 41mph when travelling downhill during their adventure.

“Putting it into context, cycling 73 miles over an eight-day period without any other vehicle assistance is an absolutely remarkable achievement for anyone to complete, and Lee and the team are delighted with the effort they have put into this project,” commented an Ecospace spokesperson. “Admittedly though, Lee did have some trouble putting away his maps on most days! When all is said and done they’ve raised an incredible amount of money for the MSF and hopefully have raised its profile in the same instance. There is still a long way for them to go as they reach the next stage of their journey, and the Ecospace team are behind Lee and the gang all the way.”

Indian NGO Tarang offers Free education for slum children

May 14th, 2010

Mumbai, India – There are several children NGOs for children in India and Tarang that works towards the betterment of the lives of those children who are not able to afford their educational expenses. Tarang is a team of good-hearted people who develop curriculum and educational program to educate the poor slum children and those children who live below the poverty line. They basically teach them things that would help them in working out their livelihood. They develop customized programs for offering education for slum children.

Tarang as an India NGO tries to improve the lifestyles of those children living below the poverty line by offering them the educational knowledge that would later help them in becoming good citizens of India, so that they will be able to support their family themselves. The best part is that all the programs that are developed are executed with care and concern for those poor children. Tarang and its team are is doing everything completely out of their own interest and without expecting anything in return or as profit. They offer free education in India not only for children living in slums but also for poor children who come from week economically backgrounds.

Tarang is basically trying to empower the lives of all those children who wish but do not have enough resources to go to school. As an initial step to educate such children, Tarang has in fact adopted slums in and around Mumbai and is trying to educate all those children living in there. Tarang is a very good example for all Mumbai NGOs and other educational NGO in India. They are trying to educate as many children as possible. They also run motivational programs to attract children and to motivate them to study and reach heights in their lives.

Other than that, they are also motivating the public who are interested in social service in India to sponsor the educational expenses of one or more children depending on their capacity to spend. This is truly a good way of getting the help of those several thousands of people in India who are not able to reach these poor children. Even if they are not able to support the educational expenses fully, they can pay a part of the expense depending on how much they can spare for the welfare of the poor children. By doing all these things, this educational NGO in Mumbai is offering quality education for slum children. If you too should be interested in helping those poor children who are not getting their basic education, visit www.tarang.org and offer them your support

Asthma UK is the perfect partner for carpet & upholstery cleaning specialists Chem-Dry

February 8th, 2010

Professional carpet & upholstery cleaning and disaster restoration specialists Chem-Dry aim to raise the bar and really make a difference for asthma sufferers this year, after announcing Asthma UK as their chosen ‘Charity of the Year’ for 2010. Chem-Dry franchisees up and down the country aim to help raise significant funds through a range of fundraising initiatives and activities during 2010.

In 2010, Chem-Dry is proud to be supporting Asthma UK, the national charity dedicated to helping the one in five households affected by asthma. Most people will know someone with asthma, but many people don’t realise that this condition is serious and claims three lives in the UK every day. In fact, more people die each year of asthma than cervical cancer and testicular cancer combined and sadly many adults and children with severe asthma face frequent hospital visits or can be stuck in their own homes, trapped by breathlessness.

Asthma UK provides support and advice to all people affected by asthma, through a range of projects, dedicated research and services. These can include specialised holidays for children with asthma and a popular Adviceline staffed by asthma nurse specialists.

Neil Churchill, Chief Executive of Asthma UK says: “We are really excited about our brand new partnership with Chem-Dry in 2010 and look forward to working with their staff, franchises and customers to make a real difference for people with asthma and maintain vital services such as our Adviceline”.

Mark Richardson, Marketing Executive, Chem-Dry Franchising, comments “We believe this partnership is a perfect fit for our national network of franchise businesses. Throughout 2010 we will be organising some special events and activities in an effort to raise awareness of asthma and hopefully generate lots of funds for this worthwhile cause. There is little doubt a fair majority of the population will have some personal experiences of asthma and are likely to have a family member who suffers badly from the related symptoms. We intend to build a good working relationship with Asthma UK and hope this partnership will run beyond 2010”.
