Demands Are High

January 7th, 2010

There has never been more demand for residential air conditioning, and never been a better time to have an air conditioning system installed in your home.  There are tremendous energy savings with the installation of the ‘heat pump’ system, which can be used for heating as well as cooling.

These systems when in heating mode offer more energy saving, and are more cost effective than normal electric heaters.  Due to the energy efficiency of the systems the government being committed to reducing the emission of gases responsible for global warming, has awarded a reduced rate of VAT to the supply and installation of heat-pump air conditioning systems, and state that “reducing the rate of VAT will encourage the increased use of such energy efficient products and will have a positive effect in reducing carbon emissions”.

Most people still have the mindset that air conditioning is a luxury, and expensive to run.  This is definitely not the case today, as units in homes and offices can also be used as an energy efficient heating system.

More and more consumers are looking to have air conditioning systems installed into bedrooms, conservatories, kitchens, lounges and dining rooms.  A wall split air conditioning system installed into these rooms is perfect.  For the layman a split air conditioning system simply means that the condenser (sometimes referred to as the ‘outdoor unit’) is separated from the ‘indoor unit thus the meaning ‘split’.

The benefits of these air conditioning systems are easy installation, easy maintenance, quiet operation, heating, and more importantly cost effective.

In future years to come there will be significant changes in the way we heat our homes and businesses, because most people are responsible human beings, are getting away form the burning of fossil fuels, and looking at the latest air conditioning units which also act as energy efficient heating systems.

A spokesman for Climachill an air conditioning specialist said “we have installed wall split systems into rooms all around the house, and all systems installed by Climachill have ‘heat pump’ technology which gives energy efficient heating as well, so you can live and work comfortably year round”.

MOEA Drives Global Galileo Industry Alliance

Satellite Industry Brings Sky-rocketing Business Opportunity

Today (Nov. 2) Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) hosts the Next Wave Sky Industry Business Opportunity Forum and Taiwan’s Award Ceremony of European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC) 2009.  Thorsten Rudolph, Chairman of ESNC, Johnsee Lee, President of ITRI, Wen-Hsin Chan, Consultant of Department of Industrial Technology, MOEA and Christian Stammel, CEO of Navispace AG discuss the huge business opportunities of the Galileo satellite system which is expected to create a market of NT$3.7 trillion in 2012.
GGIA enables Taiwan and Europe to complement each other and facilitate more exchange of their resources and R&D experiences.

EC started building Galileo satellite system in 2002, and expects to launch the system in 2013. Taiwan’s nation sales of satellite terminal devices account for 20.3% of world’s market share. MOEA is confident that Taiwan’s business firms will successfully become one of the major suppliers of satellite navigational products in the world.

In April this year, ITRI signed the LOI with AZO, sponsor of ESNC, to initiate cooperation between Taiwan’s business firms and their partners in the world.  In August, Navispace ordered 10,000 units of Smart Personal Trackers from Taiwan’s satellite navigational manufacturer Wonde Proud Technology Co., Ltd. through the effort of GGIA.  In October, Septentrio2 of Belgium visited 12 Taiwan companies, including Tai-Saw Technology Co., Ltd., Faraday Technology Corporation, Alchip Technologies, for purchasing satellite navigational hardware products and working out technical cooperation arrangements.

The Creative Idea of Taiwan Takes 2nd Place

In European Satellite Navigation Competition 2009

The award ceremony takes place today (Nov. 2) at Far Eastern Plaza Hotel. Thorsten Rudolph, Chairman of ESNC, Johnsee Lee, President of ITRI, and Wen-Hsin Chan, Consultant of DOIT, MOEA present awards to Taiwan winners.  Taiwan’s participants of ESNC 2009 also garnered the 2nd place of the regional competition and the championship of special topic award.

Taiwan’s participating entry – Shadow Guide – A guiding solution for a group of people to enjoy their trip leisurely and consciously – took the 2nd place of the ESNC 2009.

Information and Communications Research Laboratories (ICRL) of ITRI got the citation for design excellence at the ESNC 2009 in Taiwan area.

Starting from this year, ITRI established a mechanism designed to help participating teams. ITRI will offer participating teams a “value creation education session”, helping the participating teams generate “Three P’s” – rapid prototyping (RP), intellectual property (IP), and business plan (BP).  After this process, ITRI’s assistance will link the participating teams to its venture capital providers, and big business partners to turn concept into start-up business.
