The Best Summer Buy

March 9th, 2010

According to the UK Met Office, global warming will resume its upward climb again this year, and forecast that 2010 will be the hottest year ever recorded for the world. Bearing in mind all that has been written and discussed around the world about global warming we need to be prepared and make sure that we are ready for a hot summer and the best summer buy would of course be a portable air conditioning unit.

Portable air conditioners are movable units that can be used to cool a specific room in the home or office and does not require permanent installation.  The very meaning of the word ‘portable’ which is movable, transportable, transferable, handy, convenient, manageable, a portable air conditioning system is all of these things, and is so flexible and with no effort can be moved from room-to-room in any building.

Climachill air conditioning specialists is Sussex’s leading Air conditioning and electrical contractors, and can bring air conditioning solutions to your home or workplace at a very affordable price and in no way compromise on quality.

Selling their new generation portable air conditioners they offer the latest technological advances in portable air conditioning.  This latest advance in portable air conditioning systems is known as the ‘self evaporative water recycling’ which in layman’s terms simply means the system re-uses approximately 75% of the water it creates, thus the water tank does not have to be emptied as many times as a standard portable air conditioner.

Climachill stock portable air conditioning units that range from 9000 BTU to a huge 18,000 BTU in either cooling only, or cooling and heating mode, these units are for commercial as well as domestic use and must not be compared to typical units found at DIY stores.  There is no end to their flexibility any room, anywhere and is also ideal for server rooms as back-ups.

If long range predictions are correct we are in for a hot summer and you will need to keep cool so now is the time to invest in a portable air conditioning unit and make it your best summer buy.

A spokesman for Climachill said: “We are a family run business that has fully qualified engineers who work to the latest European Legislation and whatever your choice of unit we can provide you with the best solution for all your air conditioning needs”.

Air Conditioners: How To Save Money, Help The Environment And Stay Cool

March 5th, 2010

When was the last time you had your portable air conditioner serviced to make sure everything was working as it should? Most people make sure their cars have regular maintenance every 5,000 miles or so, but how often do homeowners and businesses have regularly scheduled maintenance on their home or office’s portable air conditioning system.

Climachill, one of the UK’s leading air conditioning specialists advice is that portable air conditioners need to be kept clean so the air can flow through them. A filter that gets clogged by dust and dirt can increase your energy costs, keep your home or workplace uncomfortable, and actually cause damage to the cooling equipment. This is a very small expense and an easy job to do, and a simple monthly maintenance task that can keep your cooling and heating equipment operating properly for many years.

Another potential problem is that if an air-conditioner’s refrigerant level is either too high or too low will not only affect the system’s performance, but it also can cause costly mechanical damage and increase its energy use.

Director of Climachill, Mark Goldstein says: “A poorly maintained portable air conditioning unit can use up to 60 per cent more energy. As a result of this, air conditioners are now subject to regular assessments, as part of the UK’s effort to improve the energy efficiency of its buildings and meet carbon emission reduction targets. However, the efficiency of your air conditioning system also partly depends on how you operate it. By setting controls correctly and reducing the need for cooling, you can save energy and cut the operating costs of your system.”

Climachill is a REFCOM registered company. REFCOM is the Register of Companies Competent to Handle Refrigerants in the UK. All Climachill engineers hold current City & Guilds & CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) Qualifications in the Safe Handling of Refrigerants and are all Registered Refrigerant Handlers with The Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Industry Board (ACRIB). All Climachill engineers carry Building Engineering Services identity cards confirming their qualifications and these are available for inspection at any time.

Oil Gone Easy Marine S-200 Used for Bilge Cleaning

February 18th, 2010

Oil Gone Easy Marine S-200, an eco-friendly product that was used in oil spill cleanup in major spills, such as the Prestige oil spill in Spain can also be used for bilge cleaning. This oil stain remover clears out accumulated bilge waste, which contains engine oil and lubricants. It makes use of a simple passive method called bioremediation to clear the contamination from the bilge.

Boat owners will especially find this oil spill cleaner very useful as there are fines associated with illegal dumping of bilge waste and also because Oil Gone Easy Marine S-200 oil stain remover comes with a cost-effective price.

The specialty of this solution is the use of an eco-friendly method in cleaning oil spill without disturbing the interior part of the bilge. The solution only needs to be applied on the bilge. This solution acts as a super-nutrient in attracting the oil eating microbes present in the environment and sticks to the hydrocarbons present in the water and eventually breaks them down. It creates an agglomerated gel which remains on the surface where there is an aerobic environment thus pumping out only clean water overboard. One application of this bilge cleaner is enough to last two months.

Pioneers in the Sustainability Movement By Jeff Kiec

February 17th, 2010

Fads come and go and by now we’ve all heard of the concept ‘going green’.  Some may overlook this terminology as a short-term marketing fad. However, many global industry leaders recognized the economic advantages of going green and chose to become pioneers in the sustainability movement. They recognized that incorporating sustainable practices into daily operations provide tremendous long-term benefits for their profits, employees, suppliers, vendors, and surrounding communities.

Since 2001 Toyota’s Green Supplier Guidelines ask suppliers to go beyond legal and social requirements and to undertake activities that support its environmental goals. Apple Computers now requires its global supply base to sign Supplier Code of Conduct that incorporates a broad spectrum of sustainable business practices.

Wal-Mart’s Sustainability 360 program engages its 8,000 retail locations, 100,000 suppliers, and 2 million associates to develop goals to reduce their environmental footprint.  The entire company is committed to reaching the sustainability goals by committing to purchase 100 percent renewable energy, create zero waste and sell products that sustain people and resources.

The hospitality industry is rapidly adopting similar practices. Marriott hotels has over 275 EnergyStar labeled hotels and is committed to increasing its green hotel portfolio ten fold in the next five years.  It has 50 Marriott branded hotels in design, development, or under construction are expected to achieve the US Green Building Council’s LEED Certification in 2010.  InterContinental Hotel Group is currently developing, Green Engage, an extensive in-house sustainability software program that will soon assist over 4400 hotels in 150 countries increase energy efficiency, reduce water consumption, eliminate waste, and lower their impact on the environment.

Sustainability is here to stay. Over the coming years the concept will become a more effective of a tool for businesses to find hidden cost savings and operational improvements.

Interested in learning how your hotel can go green? EcoGreenHotel is working with local convention and visitor bureaus to help promote sustainability through a series of green hotel case study presentations.  This February EcoGreenHotel will be presenting to Bentonville, Arkansas area hotels to show how they can help Wal-Mart achieve its sustainability goals.  Visit EcoGreenHotel to learn more: www.ecogreenhotel.com

Triple Bottom Line and Eco-Efficiency: Where to Start? By Susan Patel

February 8th, 2010

Eco-Efficiency, also generally termed “green,” is based on the concept of creating more goods and services while using fewer resources and creating less waste and pollution. In other words, it means doing more with less. So what does this have to do with your bottom line? It helps hotels provide better service while using fewer resources. Thereby, reducing the materials and energy intensity of goods and services lowers the hotel’s ecological impact AND improves the bottom line. It’s a key driver for overall business performance.

Triple bottom line, sometimes called the TBL or 3P approach – People, Planet and Profits, requires thinking in three dimensions, not one.  It takes into account ecological and societal performance in addition to financial.

Today, quantifiable environmental impacts include consumption of finite resources, energy usage, water quality and availability, and pollution emitted. Social impacts include community health, employee and guest safety, education quality and diversity.

Why should you consider adapting such an approach?

For one, diverse businesses are learning the benefits of corporate sustainability. Take for example well-known companies such as Starbucks, Wal-Mart, Staples, Bank of America, GE, Home Depot, Anheuser-Busch, Honda, and Dell. It’s simple, factoring these impacts into their overall balance sheets will make these companies more successful because it delivers greater efficiency, makes them more competitive and sparks innovation – all drivers of profitability.

Need even more reasons? A study by A.T. Kearney, Inc, found that in 16 of the 18 industries studied, companies committed to sustainability outperformed industry averages by 15% over the six months from May through November 2008.

“Our study indicates that the market rewards specific companies,” said Dr. Daniel Mahler, author of the study. “We find common characteristics among the leading companies that show that sustainability goes far beyond the narrow definition of being environmentally friendly.”

At the end of the day, in plain English, eco-efficiency equals cost savings that translates directly to the bottom line. Intuitively, doesn’t it just make sense?

Ways to Become Eco-Efficient?

Transforming your hotel to be “green” doesn’t have to be at the expense of financial objectives – rather sustainable businesses are becoming more efficient, more innovative, more connected, more profitable, and more competitive.

However, just like all things, businesses go through phases. The best would be to consult a professional who understands the hospitality industry and sustainable solutions. It’s very easy to find solutions, but does it make sense for your hotel – that is the key factor.

To start, the following points should be incorporated into your hotel’s business strategy – as many are already forced to do given the dizzying energy costs. Let’s try to be proactive by:

  • Reducing energy usage
  • Enhancing recycling possibilities and options of all materials used
  • Utilizing new technology to reduce energy and water consumption
  • Recycling more and reducing toxic chemical use
  • Maximizing use of renewable and recycled resources
  • Purchasing environmentally friendly products, especially for housekeeping

You should also benchmark your hotel to determine your current situation. I have noticed many hotels striving for an Energy Star Certification and, on the flip side, guests seeking hotels that demonstrate green initiatives through certification. This program allows hotels to quantify and track energy and water usage and savings over time.

Wouldn’t you love to cut your energy bills 5-20% immediately? Next phase is to analyze your current situation and identify areas that yield tremendous savings in a short period of time. Our team at EcoGreenHotel offers an entire energy-efficiency package that does just that and more.

Bottom line of eco-efficiency is: completely integrate it into your business strategy – before natural resource prices sky-rocket. I believe the triple bottom line thinking and sustainability are unavoidable.

Oil Gone Easy S-200 Products Used in Refinery Cleanup

January 20th, 2010

Oil Gone Easy S-200International Environmental Products (IEP) that provides eco-friendly solutions for a clean environment has announced that a major US refinery has chosen Oil Gone Easy S-200 products to cleanup 4 acres of their site. According to them, the intensive performance history of Oil Gone Easy S-200, right from the Prestige oil spill cleanup on the coast of Spain, has lead to its selection.

The task includes cleanup of oil spills, leaks, and a history of hydrocarbon issue throughout one section of the refinery. Approximately 30,000 sq meters of surface oil spills and leaks, including areas around tank farms, under pipelines, near loading racks, and on the shore riprap and dock areas were required to cleanup using Oil Gone Easy S-200.

The usage has proved that the application of this oil remover is an effortless process, wherein the solution needs only to be sprayed on the leaked or spilled hydrocarbon for the indigenous bacteria to degrade the hydrocarbon into carbon dioxide and water. The entire process does not involve any foreign bacteria and the concern of hazardous waste is eliminated. Another advantage of S-200 is that the bioremediation process is unspoilt by rain, wave action, or wind due to the solution’s adhering nature to the hydrocarbons.

Becoming the Norm

December 29th, 2009

In far flung destinations with hot humid climates air conditioning is considered to be the ‘norm’.  But in the UK where weather is notoriously fickle, especially in the summer, air conditioning has up till now, not played an important feature in our homes.

Interest in air conditioning has become more prevalent with each passing year, the reason being, with global warming never far from the news agenda, is making air conditioning more of a necessity than a desire, and very soon will become the ‘norm’ for most house owners in the UK.

Consider this, climate change is already with us and in the future we may be in need of a solution that will suit our home environment all year round, but at the same time reduce our carbon footprint.  According to the Carbon Trust, buildings account for about 40% of the total carbon emissions in the UK.

A greater demand has been placed on businesses to be more energy efficient; and coupled with Government legislation to reduce carbon emissions, manufactures of air conditioning systems are now providing systems with dual purpose, being an air cooler in the heat of the summer months and a heater in the winter, thus making it more energy efficient and cost effective.

All systems installed by Climachill have ‘heat pump’ technology, which is up to five times greater energy efficient than a traditional heating system.  This means that the system can be run in reverse using heat transfer from one place to another in order to provide air conditioning or heating.  Air conditioning heating is by far the most efficient way of heating.

Climachill leading air conditioning and Electrical contractors can undertake all new air conditioning installations as well as planned maintenance.  Providing services for domestic and commercial premises also portable units and is definitely at the top of their game and can submit the full package. This company has many strings to its proverbial bow and also welcomes volume purchases from businesses of all kinds, importing high quality goods maintains their stock levels so are able to fulfill large orders in a timely manner.

A spokesman for Climachill said “we totally understand air conditioning we sell portable air conditioners and install air conditioning systems to businesses and house owners alike”.  He went on to say “we are not simply a website selling air conditioning products, we are very conscious of the impact our business may have on the environment and strive to supply the most energy efficient systems”.

Todd Fratzel reviews Oil Gone Easy Products at Today’s Green Construction

December 28th, 2009

Todd Fratzel, the Principal Engineer for a large construction firm as well as the author of Home Construction Improvement, reviewed Oil Gone Easy products at Today’s Green Construction, a blog that focuses mainly on the need to conserve energy and protect the environment. In this blog, Todd shares his experience using Oil Gone Easy Home and Driveway S-200 to remove oil stains from his garage.

According to Todd Fratzel, Oil Gone Easy is a biodegradable product that effectively removes oil stains from surfaces, such as concrete, brick, pavers, asphalt, and soil. In his review, he explains that Oil Gone Easy Home and Driveway S-200 when used to remove oil stains should be left a longer time on the stain as the microorganisms get a longer time to work on them. He reveals that to clean oil stains off his garage; he poured Oil Gone Easy S-200 solution onto the concrete surface stained with motor oil and left it throughout the day, only occasionally brushing with a stiff brush.

After 5 hours of soaking time, he claims to have noticed a visible improvement. Todd Fratzel is particularly impressed with the fact that Oil Gone Easy S-200 products are totally safe for kids and animals. Gloucestershire Based Firm Take Recycling Bins To A New Level

December 8th, 2009

Recycling is a hot topic at the moment in the UK and more is being done to encourage us to recycle our everyday items. One of the problems faced is that not all homes and offices have recycling bins close at hand, which means that a lot of items are still being sent to landfill sites across the UK causing CO2 emissions to rise.

Acorn Office Accessories Ltd based in Coleford, Gloucestershire are trying to change that by not just offering recycling bins for sale but the bins themselves are made from recycled materials with up to 70% recycled fibre content.

The offering includes bins for home and office and include:

  • Desktop recycling boxes – ideal for waste paper
  • Desk side bins – cans, plastic and paper
  • Printer cartridge recycling bins
  • Mobile phone bins
  • Large bins suitable for retail outlets…
  • Home recycling centre bins – for plastics, paper, tins

The bins are not only made from recycled materials themselves but they are also attractive and extremely practical. Take for instance the Desk side bin, this bin sits neatly alongside your desk and has several receptacles for different sorts of recycling, this means that you do not have to move from your desk in order to bin and more importantly recycle your waste be it a drinks can/ bottle or paper.

All of the recycling bins manufactured are made with the environment in mind, the bins contain high levels of recycled materials content, are manufactured in the UK within a radius of 99 miles of the distribution centre, completely biodegradable and the remaining product source is sustainable. Being able to recycle your waste quickly and efficiently is surely the easiest way to help the environment as most people when faced to make a small trip in order to recycle will just place the items in a normal waste bin which obviously goes to a landfill site.

So by having simple and easy access to a recycling bin in both the home and the office this will surely increase the amount of waste recycled. Recycling bins can be purchased simply from their website and with plenty to choose from you can quickly equip your home, office or school into a recycling haven.

Helping to lower CO2 emissions by reducing the amount of waste that goes to landfill by recycling is a choice we can all make and a responsibility we carry to help save the environment and the world we live in for future generations.

Jim Lynn Talks about Oil Gone Easy Products on Meet the Planet

November 27th, 2009

Jim Lynn, the inventor of Oil Gone Easy products, appeared as a guest on Meet the Planet, an environmental multi-media show that strives to create awareness among people to come up with positive and educated solutions to deal with challenging situations in the world today.

On this show, Jim Lynn talks about the negative environmental impact caused by minor oil spills from cars and trucks. Every day, millions of engines make one-drop-at-a-time “oil spills” on the roads and parking lots, which end up in to our oceans and rivers when it rains.

He states that, of the 20 million gallons of petroleum that escape into the North American waters every year, 17 million are a result of land-based runoffs from vehicles, contamination by recreational boaters, and fuel dumping by commercial boaters. He also describes the harmful effects that these oil spills have on the marine life.

Oil Spill Cleanup

Oil Spill Cleanup

Ahead on the show, Jim Lynn explains how oil spill cleanup techniques, such as pressure washing, cleanup using dispersants and hot water, instead of cleaning up cause more harm to the environment.

He then talks about Oil Gone Easy products and the bioremediation technology used in these products. He explains how bioremediation technology, cleans an oil spill in an effective and environmentally-friendly way without causing any further damage.

He reveals that the industrial version of this bioremediation accelerator was tested by the Spanish government for more than nine months in their laboratories as well as on site with the Prestige Oil Spill that occurred on the coast of Spain. Of the 50 products tested, Oil Gone Easy was the only product selected for the continuing cleanup of the shoreline. The second generation of the product was also successfully used to cleanup 70 miles of the contaminated shore after the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska.

Furnace and Heating System Maintenance in Winter Key to Battling Carbon Monoxide Poisoning in Homes

November 24th, 2009

Installing Carbon Monoxide Alarms is recommended as part of regular furnace and heating equipment maintenance.

Carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning leads to hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries each year in homes. Such poisoning results primarily from automobiles left running in attached garages but also from portable generators, power tools, furnaces and heaters. At the onset of cold weather, we begin operating appliances and equipment that can generate carbon monoxide gas. This includes fuel-burning equipment and appliances – especially if they malfunction or are improperly ventilated. Premier Indoor Comfort Systems service technicians suggest that their clients’ heating and cooling systems receive annual maintenance checks in order to increase the unit’s efficiency and longevity, as well as to benefit the client with savings on their utility costs and to promote an environmentally safer atmosphere for their family. They recommend that all homes install a Carbon Monoxide Alarm.

Carbon monoxide gas is deadly, even though it is colorless, odorless, and tasteless. It may kill quickly or slowly, and there are no warning signs specific to carbon monoxide. Even when it is not fatal, carbon monoxide can cause permanent damage to the brain and other parts of the nervous system. It affects people of all ages, but Infants and children are even more susceptible than adults. One study supported by the EPA found that 75 percent of homes had carbon monoxide from the garage inside of the home. Homeowners have very little ability to sense the presence of CO without detectors, unlike many other indoor polluting events. As of January 1, 2009 all new homes in Georgia are required to have a Carbon Monoxide alarm. Premier Indoor Comfort Systems strongly recommends that all homes have a Carbon Monoxide Alarm. They are inexpensive and can be installed as part of the regular furnace and heating equipment maintenance.

Premier Indoor Comfort Systems has provided heating, ventilation, and air conditioning services to both commercial and residential clients in Georgia since its founding in 1999. They are a full service provider, which includes: New construction installations, Light Commercial installations, Duct modifications, High velocity mini duct systems, Geothermal systems, Radiant floor heating systems, Ductless split systems, Air Purification systems, Humidification systems, Dehumidification systems, Zoning systems, Fresh air ventilation systems, Exhaust systems, Duct Cleaning, and Wine Coolers. Split Rock Conservation Park, Winner of Eisen Marketing Group’s “Operation Outreach” Program, Gets New Website

November 2nd, 2009

Cincinnati, OH — November 7, 2009—Split Rock Conservation Park was a 2009 recipient of Eisen Marketing Group’s (EMG) “Operation Outreach” program, one of ten groups receiving grant dollars toward professional marketing and marketing communications work. Split Rock Conversation Park, located in Petersburg, Kentucky, asked Cincinnati’s largest public relations firm to develop a professional website to showcase all the wonders and beauty of the park.

The newly developed site launched today and can be accessed at www.SplitRockPark.org.

The park is named for the unique glacial formations deposited in the area thousands of years ago. This awesome feature and the beauty and diversity of the surrounding area has been a destination for exploration and wonder for generations. The land is a mosaic of woodlands and meadows surrounded by Woolper Creek and the Ohio River. The many unique natural features are used to teach the importance of understanding, conserving and in some cases restoring the local biodiversity.

“The EMG ‘Operation Outreach’ program is a great way for our firm to give back to the non-profit community,” EMG vice president Angela Dennison says. “The program gives grant winners a chance to receive professional public relations work to help them improve and expand their audience, done at a professional level they likely would be unable to afford.”

About Split Rock Conservation Park

Split Rock Conservation Park is a not-for-profit organization focused on local biodiversity conservation and the development of Split Rock Conservation Park, a facility to offer quality conservation education opportunities to local students. This type of facility is unique to the area and will provide Northern Kentucky and the surrounding community a valuable, educational resource.

Inside Business Report With Fred Thompson “Greening of America”

November 1st, 2009

The producers of Inside Business are pleased to announce a special series, Greening of America, highlighting the multitude of ways Americans are becoming environmentally responsible.  The show marries an unrivaled host, Fred Thompson, with a team of award-winning producers, and provides viewers new information that will impact their lives.
America’s capacity for leadership worldwide is undeniable.  On almost every level and by almost every measure, the U.S. holds a place of singular importance.  Unfortunately, our propensity for consumption has placed atop another, not-so-desirable list:  Despite possessing only 1/20th of the globe’s population, we nevertheless consume ¼ of its resources and materials.  We cannot, in good conscience, berate the Brazilians for clearing Amazon rainforest, or belabor the Chinese for burning coal, unless we undertake a leadership role in environmental causes domestically.
To that end, “Inside Business Report” series will explore the innovative approach Americans are taking to protect the environment.  We’ll speak with organizations and industry experts at the forefront of this green revolution, and we’ll discover eco-friendly products and technologies that benefit both our environment and society.

Topics for the “Greening of America” series include:

•    Sustainable Business Solutions for the 21st Century
•    Sustainable Technology Solutions for the 21st Century
•    Competitive Solutions for the Oil and Gas Industry

“Inside Business Report” identifies business-to-business stories for television and Internet content, and educates viewers on a wide-variety of emerging concepts. As a powerful engine of change, “Inside Business Report” broadens perspectives, erases boundaries and opens up new avenues for progress. With fresh content interlaced throughout each series, viewers will gain insight on opportunities for their families, businesses, lifestyles, and financial futures. At EcoGreenHotel, we believe that to have a positive impact on our environment, we must all join forces and launch a concerted effort. “In the very near future management companies and owners of multiple hotels will have no option than to know what their effect on the environment is” says Scott Parisi President of EcoGreenHotel. There is a huge confusion of how to measure the effect, GHG, Carbon Footprint, Energy Efficiency??.  EcoGreenHotel has been working with Bleu Environment for several months and have been studying the politics behind this movement. Bleu Environment brings an incredible wealth of knowledge to the EcoGreenHotel team which will allow us to be a reliable and credible resource for hoteliers to effectively measure their environmental impact.

We are so excited to be involved with Bleu Environment – and doubly excited when its president, Pierre Daigneault, agreed to link arms with us to expand our reach into Canada’s hospitality industry while expanding theirs into America.  Bleu Environment is an environmental strategy group of professionals that provide support and partnership in sustainable development.  They act as an innovative platform in   which they help make possible the reduction of ecological footprint for any   type of businesses and organization.  Bleu Environment wishes to make a difference   in this market in full expansion by offering services and solutions adapted to your needs and requirements while keeping a vision centered towards sustainable development.

Throughout Canada, Montreal-based Bleu Environment proposes a multitude of services such as environmental strategies for small or large organizations, GHG quantification, monetization  of  financial  advantages  related  to  the  carbon market and the definition and deployment of environmental action plans. Pierre and his team also offer training, carbon neutrality assistance and advice, R & D and marketing services, and help with achieving environmental certifications like L.E.E.D. to all sorts of business, including hotels.

In conjunction with our savvy new friends at Bleu, we will now be able to offer our array of services, including our popular environmental support program, to our hospitality neighbors to the north.  Dozens of properties across America have already taken advantage of our environmental support program to help them design, fund and successfully launch their green initiatives.  With Bleu Environment’s help, Canadian properties can now reap the program’s rewards as well.

That’s right – there are rebates, incentives and savings available to help pay for environmental upgrades north of the border, too. We have even figured out how green initiatives can produce a positive cash flow for the property from Day One, and we’re happy to share our recipe for sustainable success with hotels throughout North America and beyond.  (Hola, Mexico!  Are you listening?)

Here’s what Pierre had to say about what his company contributes to the partnership:

“Being involved in environmental business and providing expertise on carbon market sustainability and best practices in various organizations, Bleu Environment has the privilege to partner with EcoGreenHotel,” Pierre said. “Through this partnership, Bleu Environment brings to the American business and hoteliers a thorough knowledge and a vast expertise, and will be able to assist and advise EcoGreenHotel clients in all aspects related to the environment.

This partnership will also allow EcoGreenHotel to have representation in Canada, allowing Bleu Environment to represent the brand and at the same time make EcoGreenHotel a household name among the Canadian hoteliers.”

Welcome to America, Bleu Environment… here’s to a great – and sustainable – partnership!

Remove Truck Oil and Diesel Stains the Natural Way

October 1st, 2009

Oil Gone Easy S-200 was reviewed in the UTV Weekly, a widely read online magazine about UTVs or side-by-sides. It is an eco-friendly product that makes use of bioremediation technology to remove truck oil and diesel stains naturally.

Bioremediation works by degrading the harmful hydrocarbons present in oil using the micro-organisms present in the atmosphere. As it does not cause any harm to the environment, this technology is recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This technology is used in several oil spill sites during oil spill cleanup.

Oil Gone Easy S-200 that uses this technology has proved to be very effective in cleaning up oil spills. It has been used in oil spill cleanup procedures in several spills, including the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill in Alaska.

This oil stain remover can also be used to clean driveways, concrete, garages, soil, and gas-stations as well as oil stains from anywhere in the house. It works on any surface, including cement, concrete, and soil. It is available by the quart, 5-gallon buckets, and 55-gallon drums.

Using this oil stain remover is very simple, unlike other methods of oil spill cleanup. Oil spill cleanup using rags, sand, or kitty litter is not only tedious, but also does not produce the desired results. The harmful hydrocarbons present in the oil are also not completely eliminated.

Oil Gone Easy S-200, on the other hand, removes the stain efficiently as it makes use of special nutrients to attract bacteria, which break down the oil. Once this oil stain remover is poured on the stain it takes seven days to completely remove the stain.

This oil stain remover has other advantages too. It is waterproof and works no matter what the weather condition is. It is also non-flammable and also eliminates petrochemical odors.

Consumers looking for a good oil stain remover to cleanup truck oil and diesel stains safely and effectively, will find Oil Gone Easy S-200 useful.

Good to Know: Report Shows Hotel Guests Prefer Green by Scott Parisi

Been feeling a little blue about your eco hotel’s green initiative lately?  Been wondering if all the hard work is worth it, or if you’re just spinning your wheels for nothing?  Thinking about giving up because no one else seems to care about sustainable hospitality as much as you do?

Pull up a chair, my friend.  Have I got some news for you!

A recently released report by those studious folks over at J.D. Power and Associates contained a big shot in the arm for eco hoteliers.  The 2009 North America Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index Study showed, among other things, that green hotels made great strides in awareness, guest satisfaction and participation in sustainable programs since the previous reporting period in 2008.

For their report, J.D. Power surveyed over 66,000 guests who stayed in North American hotels between May of 2008 and June of 2009.  Here are some notable findings about green lodging taken directly from the release:

  • Guest awareness of their hotel’s green programs increased significantly in 2009. Sixty-six percent of guests said they were aware of their hotel’s conservation efforts, up from 57 percent last year.  Good job getting the word out!
  • A high percentage of guests took part in their hotel’s sustainability efforts. Among those guests who were aware of the green program, 72 percent said they participated in their hotel’s conservation programs during their stay, meaning they recycled or participated in the property’s linen reuse program, for example.  Way to go… you and your staff are doing a terrific job of rallying the troops!
  • Awareness of green programs had a strong impact on overall guest satisfaction. On average, satisfaction is more than 160 points higher among guests who report being aware of their hotel’s green programs, compared with guests who are unaware of them.  Awesome!  You and your team have proven that implementing a green initiative doesn’t mean that the guest experience has to suffer… in fact, it’s just the opposite!

In a nutshell, this study shows that green hospitality has finally taken a firm hold in the industry, and that overall it is being done well.  Your eco hotel’s efforts are starting to reap dividends, not only for the environment but also for your property’s bottom line.

So stop feeling blue.  Send this document to your green team members today, and share this good green news!

Has your hotel received good guest feedback about your eco hotel’s green initiative?  Tell us about it at info@EcoGreenHotel.com and we may feature it on our website or in our newsletter!

EcoGreenHotel.com offers a marketplace for green hotel products and services and provides a one- stop venue for green hotel news, basic environmental overviews and other tools like green hotel checklists, project ideas, book lists, and valuable links designed to promote a more sustainable hospitality industry.
