Bird Bowl and Latin Touch Catering Do Super Bowl Sunday Right!

February 22nd, 2011

Feb 18, 2011 – The lanes began to fill early Sunday afternoon and stayed that way throughout the big game, with over 100 reservations coming within an hour of kickoff. To go along with Miami’s best deal on bowling, patrons were greeted with a delicious whole pig roast prepared in a La Caja Asadora Caja China style Roasting Box by Latin Touch Catering. Samples of “pan con lechon” were brought to the lanes for all to enjoy, with full plates being served once the game was underway. The event was a follow-up to the sold-out New Year’s Eve bash held just over a month prior.

About the event, Latin Touch president Mat Masters said, “This is why I love what I do. To be able to put smiles on hundreds of faces while enjoying great company and a great game, that’s what it’s all about. Jerry (Bird Bowl GM Jerry Mugar) has a great thing going here. To see this place packed every time we sponsor an event is a testament to the job he’s doing here.”

Masters personally worked the event, bringing the pig out to be displayed before beginning the carving into delicious bite-sized samples of pan con lechon that were delivered to the patrons as they bowled. Located in Westchester, which has one of the country’s most densely Cuban populations, the caja china concept is not unfamiliar to many of those who were in attendance.

The caja china style whole pig roast is a staple of many Hispanic and Caribbean peoples, and has been a big part of Miami’s unique culture for generations. Maria Lopez explained it this way, “Ever since I was a little girl we did a pork roast for Christmas Eve and New Years, so to see one here really brought me back to that and all the great memories I have. And the pork was absolutely delicious.”

Bird Bowl, Miami’s best known bowling spot tabs Latin Touch for New Year’s Eve Extravaganza featuring Caja China

December 25th, 2010

Dec 18, 2010Miami, FL – For those looking for a family atmosphere this new year’s eve, Bird Bowl is providing one of the best spots in town to celebrate 2011 with family entertainment, bowling, a live DJ, and midnight toast to ring in the new year. And to top it all off, dinner will be a delicious whole pig roast with traditional Cuban sides (moro and yucca) provided by Latin Touch catering. When asked about teaming up with the Bird Bowl team this new year’s company president Mat Masters said, “We couldn’t think of a better, more family oriented place to be this new year’s. I’ve been coming to Bird Bowl since I was 6 years old, and the memories here are some of the best of my childhood. This is a perfect place to bring your family on the 31st. The atmosphere will be amazing, and I can promise the food will be too.”

Latin Touch recently catered the 11th annual Barfiies Wiffle Ball Tournament to benefit Miami Children’s hospital, and the La Caja China style roast was such a success that many of the participants have hired Latin Touch to bring Roasting Box cooking to their holiday parties as well. But the big one this New Year’s Eve will be at Bird Bowl. Children under 6 are free, and the cover for adults and children 7 and up is just $10. One would be hard pressed to find a better deal anywhere in town for the quality of food and entertainment that will be available. In reference to the meal itself, Masters added, “We are going classic Cuban style pig roast in all of our preparation. The caja china is Caribbean in its origins, and we are going to go with the types of seasonings and marinades that made it famous to begin with. This is going to be caja china Miami style all the way. The folks here are going to love it, and we can’t wait.

Food Preparation Surfaces for Hygiene Safety Standards in Catering Industry with Teknomek

July 20th, 2010

Over recent years, there have been vast improvements in hygiene standards within the catering industry; however this is no cause for complacency. One often overlooked area in the catering industry is that of food preparation surfaces. Although cleaned and disinfected, wear and tear inevitably leaves many surfaces worn and scratched and therefore vulnerable to bacterial harbouring.

There are two main types of food poisoning, infectious agents and toxic agents. The vast majority of reported cases stem from infectious agents which take the form of harmful bacteria or microbes that become attached to food and subsequently infect the body. The vast majority of these instances can be traced to poor hygiene standards.

Stainless steel is probably the most common material used in food preparation environments. For the chemically minded, stainless steel is an iron based alloy which contains a minimum of 10.5 percent chromium and a maximum of 1.2 percent carbon. The chromium content provides a protective layer of chromium oxide on the surface, also known as the passive film or layer. However, to be suitable for use in food preparation areas, a minimum chromium content of 18 percent is recommended.

All grades of stainless steel will stain and discolour due to surface deposits and can never be accepted as completely maintenance free. To achieve maximum corrosion resistance, the surface of the stainless steel must be kept clean. Provided the cleaning schedules are carried out on a regular basis, good performance and long service life are assured. Stainless steel equipment is easier to clean than other materials such as polymers and aluminium, and has comparable hygienic qualities to glass.

Teknomek is Europe’s leading manufacturer of catering stainless steel furniture and equipment, providing high quality and cost-effective stainless steel solutions to industry hygiene requirements. To view Teknomek products and for more information, visit www.teknomek.co.uk.

A Pleasant And Fulfilling Experience

April 29th, 2010

Today, shopping is proving to be an extremely pleasant experience when going online and taking your time to browse through ‘fields’ of your chosen commodity.  The primary goal of any website or blog should be to provide its visitors with a pleasant and fulfilling experience, and the opinions of users will play a huge role in determining the site’s level of success.

If a provider is setting out its ‘stall’ with everything a visitor to their website needs, they will come back again and again, and more importantly, the customer will just log on straight away to the site and not bother to browse for an alternative.

High speed internet connections are becoming more and more common, but even with high speed connections, some pages don’t load very quickly, and users will get impatient and exit out before viewing whatever it is you offer.  If a potential customer can’t use or access your website, it serves no purpose for that visitor. A user should be able to move through the website to find what they want. After all, visitors are coming to your site for a reason, and the information that your website provides needs to sufficiently meet the expectations of visitors.

If you are in the market for catering equipment and commercial refrigeration, then you will have no problem with the website of Ward’s Catering, specialist suppliers of catering equipment. It is so user-friendly and explicit in terms of description of the catering equipment and commercial refrigeration on offer, their corresponding prices, their special offerings, and the capabilities of each article of equipment.

Shopping online is now becoming the ‘norm’ and will get more and more sophisticated as technology goes from strength to strength. It makes sense, and a much better option than trudging around a store searching for what you want and obtaining very little information other than the price. Whereas if you go online to a provider such as Wards Catering, you will see every imaginable item of catering equipment and commercial refrigeration stocked. Not only that, you will also be able to read all about the item, how it works, its capacity, the controls and a whole lot more detailed information.

Ward’s of York has been in business for nearly 40 years and has the experience to advise anyone in the catering industry about the best buys for their particular needs.  They have an enviable reputation in the business. And with an excellent trading relationship with leading manufacturers such as Blue Seal, Caravell, Hobart, Lincat, Parry, Robot Coupe, True Viscount and many more, it allows them to offer and pass onto the customer highly competitive discounts on commercial catering and refrigeration equipment. A very important point to remember is that nearly all their products are available for immediate delivery and at the very best prices.

Head and shoulders above their competitors, Wards Catering is a ‘one-stop’ shop in terms of everything required for the catering industry. So go online to this user friendly website and make this ‘shopping trip’ a pleasant and fulfilling experience – choosing at your leisure, with no fuss or hassle and being at the top of your game with the best catering equipment and commercial refrigeration on the market.

Good Reputable Catering Equipment

April 19th, 2010

A consumer research report shows that on average, one in nine meals are eaten out of the home every week, equivalent to an estimated three to five percent increase in employment within the eating out sector as the market expands to cater for growing demands.

This growth industry is worth in excess of £40 billion per year, all the more reason for catering businesses around the UK to jump in on the bandwagon and make the most of this growing industry. And even with the recent downturn in the economy, this is one industry that seems to be recession-proof.

The catering business is huge in the UK and encompasses all types of cuisine – from Chinese, Thai, Greek, Caribbean, Lebanese, Turkish and Indonesian to name but a few. However, a recent survey showed that Indian cuisine is officially the UK’s favourite food, and there is a reported 10,000 Indian restaurants in the UK.

Good quality catering equipment is indispensable for the catering industry – whatever cuisine is being served – and to every single business serving food to the public. From a burger van, to a top hotel or restaurant, all of these businesses need catering equipment.  It is not possible to run a catering business without the best and safest catering equipment and commercial refrigeration, this will also serve as a valuable business asset and will endow the catering business owner with a safe and reliable catering business.

When refurbishing, expanding, or just starting up, a catering business, you will need a good reputable catering equipment and commercial refrigeration supplier.  Wards of York is your first port of call, carrying one of the largest ranges of catering and commercial refrigeration equipment in the UK, with forty years experience in the business, supplying catering equipment to businesses around the UK, not only have the knowledge of what works for the customer, also supplying recognised manufacturers products, but more importantly offer the very best prices within the market.

Tips to hire the best caterer for your wedding party

April 17th, 2010

The month of weddings is coming up. People who are getting married this year are worried about their wedding reception party. Thinking about arranging wedding reception is difficult for most of us.  There are many points to be considered while arranging your party. The most significant and costly thing is to hire a caterer.

Hiring a caterer is a big judgment. In fact, most young people find that the catering part is the largest cost factor in the process of planning the wedding . It must not be, of course, but it frequently is. The trick is for every pair to make sure that the catering part of their wedding ceremony is exactly what they need – both in excellence and resource constraints. This, however, must require a little time to arrange before you commence to spend and hire a caterer to serve your wedding.

One of the most significant things for a restaurant in this business is the experience in the wedding industry. You want to be confident enough to hire a Sydney catering company that has gained extensive experience in catering weddings, so you can be convinced that they will do a good job of complementing your wedding event. Make sure they have, at least, a few years of experience.

Another vital thing is to be sure you that have all your catering options, at least one chef with a cooking degree.  Beware of companies that only employ cooks for catering engagements alone. While chefs can also be talented as a guide, it is generally preferable if a company has its own chief of staff.

A good caterer must be able to offer you with diverse options and food penchant. Some of your guests may prefer foods with no sugar or they may request for vegetarian food. So be certain that your caterer is able to meet these criteria. Never mind the budget of the event. Hire a caterer at least seven days before your wedding reception party. Plan ahead of things but still inquire about the prices at least two to three days before the event. This is because some traders may deliberately raise the price for their meals when they know that you need their rescue services. There may be changes hidden behind their listing. Some companies may also not mention  taxes in their price list. It is therefore very imperative for you to know the actual details of pricing, as well as appropriate taxes.

How do you plan for the dessert while you are thinking about food and drinks? Many catering services offer drinks, but you can save money by going to a store and buying your own drinks. You may also serve coffee to your guests.  Nonetheless, it all depends on you — whether it is served by you yourself or by your caterer.

Taking all of this into consideration when selecting a caterer, is a successful way to make certain that you are able to plan the party well and provide excellent food, yet still in line with your expectations as a host.
