The golf academy delivers the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science, with the opportunity to build on that qualification with an Extended Diploma (the A Level equivalent). The golf academy educates boys and girls between the ages of 16 and 19. A single figure handicap is a requirement for entering the course. The academy has a maximum of 30 places available to new students, with courses starting in September of every year.

The annual Golf Academy course provided by the Golf College is aimed at 16-19 year old male and female candidates with a current single figure handicap. The course teaches the physical and practical skills necessary to become a pro golfer – from game play in different conditions to the ins and outs of self-management and representation.

In addition to the full course, the Golf College is also offering workshop places – ideal for candidates who would like to know what a full course can offer them – and a “Golf to Employment” course, which aims to deliver all the skills and knowledge necessary to achieve a first job in golf.

A British inventor has filed for a patent on a unique “golf transporter” that incorporates a host of features and benefits that it is believed will revolutionise how golf is played by many golfers around the world.

Apart from the obvious health benefits that are evident its design, the invention affords the golfer the luxury of being able to sit, stand on, walk behind or even operate the equipment via remote control. However, it is its eco friendliness that has been a major driving force in its development according to the inventor.

The inventor is quoted as saying, “I hope that in its own small way, the ‘MultiTasker’ will help change the golfing worlds attitude towards the golf cart and its impact up on our environment, through the use of solar power as its primary energy source.”

IN THE latest news regarding golfer Tiger Woods, the top ranked golfer who got a joint fourth place in the Masters 2010, will next compete in the US Open. The United States Golf association has confirmed that they recieved Woods’ entry form for the tournament.

Though Tiger Woods had not given any information about where would he play after the Masters Tournament 2010, at the Augusta National grounds, the USGA had earlier speculated that he would next play the US Open. The tournament, which the year’s second major tournament, will be played at Pebble Beach in June.

Mike Davis, USGA senior director of rules and competitions said, “If someone fully exempt files an entry, generally speaking, they always do play.”

The US Open has been a good tournament for Tiger Woods, who won it when it was last held on Pebble Beach, 10 years ago. He had won the tournament in 2000 by 15 shots. He had also been the only golfer in the tournament who had been able to break par by the end of the week, finishing 12-under par.

Ever since reports of Tiger Woods entering the US Open emerged, betting odds and predictions have placed the golfer as the favorite to win the tournament, even above Phil Mickelson, who had won the Masters Tournament 2010. The Betting odds have placed Tiger Woods as the prime favorite, followed by Phil Mickelson. Considerable odds are against Ernie Els, who is placed third on the list, followed by Lee Westwood and Padraig Harrington.
