Samsung & Microsoft ink Windows 7 pact

November 12th, 2010
South Korea mobile handset maker, Samsung has announced an agreement with Microsoft to use the Windows Phone 7 platform and related application software as a key component of Samsung’s smartphone portfolio.
With the signing of this contract, Samsung will launch several models based on Windows Phone 7 this year in the US, Europe and Asia but i doubt if it will have an impact on the already highly competitive smart phone market.
WP Hong, Executive Vice President and Head of Product Strategy Team said “The addition of Windows Phone 7 smartphones to Samsung’s smartphone portfolio is a significant milestone for us. Samsung’s new Windows Phone 7 based smartphones will play a key role to reinforce Samsung’s leadership in smartphone market. The new Windows Phone 7 smartphones will provide an unparalleled entertainment experience on the go.”
Two weeks ago Microsoft unveiled their latest product in the mobile phone sector – smart phones named as Windows Phone 7. Steve Ballmer, the chief executive of Microsoft presented the product in a New York event and the phone is scheduled to hit stores all over the globe from next week.
Windows Phone 7 or WP7 is a pivotal attempt made by Microsoft to claw back its market share in mobile phone sector that was lost largely due to the release of “iPhone 4(check review on http://contadorwanarua.blogspot.com/2010/10/iphone-4-overall-its-corker.html)” series by Apple.

Successful deployment of MobiLink and Distiller in Romania

April 13th, 2010

InfomatiX Ltd. is proud to announce, that it completed the mobile transition to the MobiLink technology at Primagaz Romania in February, 2010. The project management and development team of InfomatiX handled the challenge with ease, rolling out the software product on schedule while managing to keep the quality assurance aspect of the project a top priority.

The company currently uses the interconnecting MobiLink and Distiller services to connect to its existing Microsoft Dynamics Navision system and is in the process of introducing the extension of these capabilities to a wide variety of handheld devices used by Primagaz, made possible with the multiplatform MobiAccess protocol. The data synchronization process of the MobiLink system enables sales directors and regional sales managers to instantaneously access up-to-date stock data, while Distiller delivers customer information and error-free reports. Also, as Primagaz begins to use the rich mobile clients, it will take the burden of heavy paperwork off the shoulders of sales representatives, allowing them to focus on the sales process as well as making point-of-sale related materials, delivery site-specific information available wirelessly to the representatives. The data synchronization process makes use of the standard object interface of the MobiLink connector, making sure to deliver accurate and up to date information from Navision to the Distiller system via the SQL Server Integration Service.

The project was designed with future-proofing in mind from the ground up, so that expanding to other mobile clients would be a seamless process.

Users at Primagaz have been using the new MobiLink system for more than a month as of publishing and from the feedback, the new MobiLink and Distiller system had an overwhelming impact on the company’s sales effectivity.

Save the penalties for canceling unsatisfactory cell phone service

September 10th, 2009

A major issue plaguing millions of cellular consumers getting stuck in a cellular contract with unsatisfactory service. This issue is compounded by the fact that the cellular industry ranks lowest in terms of customer satisfaction. This means that there are millions of consumers out there who are extremely unhappy with their cellular service and yet are unable to do anything about it for up to 24 months.

Currently, the only way out of a cellular contract is by paying an early termination fees. This penalty, set by the various carriers, can be as high as $250 per phone. But there is a system to keep both cellular consumers and carriers happy.

As per sources from Cellswapper.com there is a service that allows millions of unhappy cellular users to transfer their contract to another consumer for the remainder of the contract period. After this the consumer is fully absolved of all responsibility and is free to initiate a new plan with a different carrier.

This has also faced criticism from carriers initially but as it is a win-win situation for both consumer and carrier, even the service providers has accepted this technique. The customer doen not have to pay any early termination fee and the carrier get a satisfied customer in place of a dis-satisfied one.

Once the contract is transferred then you need not worry about it at all and can get yourself a new carrier of your choice.

InfoCom: Mobile TV users continue to grow but there is still no proven business model so far.

September 3rd, 2009

Stuttgart, Germany – According to InfoCom’s latest study release on mobile broadband services and innovative applications, the number of mobile TV users continues to grow but there is still no proven business model so far. Japan, South Korea and Italy are the leading markets for broadcast-based mobile TV services but mobile TV subscriber growth in these markets is driven mainly by free or partly-free access and rather large handset availability. In fact, ad-based free-to-air services are dominant in Japan and South Korea whereas most of all other markets are dominated by subscription based services, which range from €1.00 to €17.00 a month (for as low as 2 and as high as 60 TV channels); though, in these markets, the subscriber base is not taking up.

Third-party service providers ceased commercial operations in Japan and Germany mainly due to a non-cooperative attitude of the local mobile operators as well as a rather limited choice of both channels and handsets. Mobile operators are in general rather reluctant to collaborate with broadcasters and third-party service providers although some are beginning to open towards partnerships.

The on-going battle on standards – namely streaming over 3G against broadcasting – is actually leading to market dissemination. Currently, most mobile TV offers in Western Europe are streamed over 3G, although there is a certain shift towards broadcast standards, especially DVB-H against others, such as 1-Seg, MediaFLO, T-DMB or S-DMB. Content generally offered are news, sports and adult contents, which are particularly adapted for mobile viewing. So far the market for “made-for-mobile” content (such as mobisodes for TV shows) is rather small.

About mobile TV services: This release about mobile TV services is extracted from “Mobile Broadband  – Unwrapping the trends”. This section provides an analysis of Mobile TV services worldwide. The report shows leading markets for mobile TV and pinpoints the factors for subscriber growth. The main deal-breakers for mobile TV services are identified through an analysis of unsuccessful services. The report compares the main mobile TV standards, underline strengths and weaknesses and identifies market drivers and obstacles for mobile TV services.
