Egypt Yellow Pages Avails Preemptive Granular Area Search Function
January 6th, 2010Cairo, Egypt – January 3, 2010 – Egypt Yellow Pages Ltd, the Local Search Company, has enhanced its search engine, yet again offering Yellow.com.eg users a more rewarding online experience and allowing them to more easily locate businesses.
Yellow.com.eg now features a WHAT box, which clearly defines “what are you looking for,” along with a WHERE box, which clearly defines “in what area.” Areas are grouped together, meaning by region, city, area, and district.
“Why the enhancement?,” posed Marc Lambert, Regional Managing Director for Egypt Yellow Pages Ltd. “Because the user already knows what they are looking for and how far they are willing to go to get it. For example, if I’m in Zamalek looking for an Italian restaurant, clearly I would like that restaurant to be as close as possible, preferably in Zamalek. However, if I’m looking for a car, I will gladly go anywhere across Cairo to buy it.”
As well, the WHERE box is now preemptive, meaning it recommends areas as you type. This enhancement makes it easier for the user and also often eliminates misspellings of Arabic area names when typed in English. Considering the demographics of the Yellow.com.eg user base and the difficulties with transliterating Arabic into English, this new refinement is particularly important. For example, Yellow.com.eg uses “Mohandeseen,” one of commonly accepted English transliterations of this Arabic place name. The many common misspellings – Mohendeseen, Mohandesin, and Mohandesine – are now avoided.
The new refinements to browsing by category on Yellow.com.eg will go live on January 4, 2009.
