Hanjo Hennemann at Nexigen to Speak at 5th Assay Conference Sept 20-21 San Diego
June 28th, 2010Hanjo Hennemann will give a presentation on “Intracellular peptides: novel modulators for drug discovery and high content target validation.” at 5th Assay and Drug Discovery Technologies Conference to be held this year in San Diego, CA Sept. 20-21, 2010 by GTCbio. In this presentation, one will learn about the modulation of non-enzymatic target proteins by intracellular peptides, hear why intracellular peptide drugs are a validated alternative to siRNA-therapeutics, learn about novel peptide discovery technologies, and hear why intracellular peptides are excellent target validation tools, which are drug-like and generate high content data.
The talk will focus on this novel drug class, and discuss technology to identify peptidic modulators targeting intracellular target proteins. It will be shown, that such peptide modulators can be used for the development of peptide derived drugs, but also for high content target validation.
Dr. Hanjo Hennemann is a founding member of Nexigen GmbH and has been serving as executive director and head of research since the foundation of Nexigen. He is the driving force behind the development of Nexigen’s drug discovery technology. Previously he was principal investigator at the research center caesar, Bonn, where he established the basis for the technology and the foundation of Nexigen. Before that he had postdoctoral appointments at the University of Essen and the University of California, San Diego. He was awarded an Alexander-von-Humboldt Fellowship for the post-doctoral work in the group of Prof Michael Karin (University of California, San Diego) in signal transduction and growth control. Dr Hennemann earned a diploma and doctorate in molecular genetics from the University of Bonn.
Also presenting at the Assay and Drug Discovery Technologies are prestigious organizations including Burnham Medical Research Institute, Pfizer, UCSF, AstraZeneca, UCLA, Bristol Myers Squibb, Genentech, National Institute of Advanced Science and Technology, Johnson & Johnson, Nexigen GmbH, University of Pennsylvania, Roche, UCD, Abbott, Merck, Novartis (GNF), and other leaders in the Assay and Drug Discovery Technologies industry.
5th Assay and Drug Discovery Technologies Conference features a mixture of academic, industry and public sector experts in an intimate setting that favors the showcase of data, the exchanges of ideas and networking. Professionals in the drug discovery industry and academics to can get an update of exciting new developments in assay technologies and exchange ideas in developing creative approaches in the drug discovery and development process to improve the efficiency and output.
