Lake District Hotels Come Alive in The Sunday Times

April 1st, 2009

Lake District Hotels are giving readers of the Sunday Times the chance to win a two-night activity break for two at The Lodore Falls Hotel.

A special “Adventure” supplement was included within The Sunday Times on Sunday 29 March listing England’s top outdoor breaks in association with enjoyengland.com, Cumbria Tourism and England’s Northwest.  The Lake District is England’s largest outdoor playground with endless possibilities for walking, cycling, canoeing, climbing, kite surfing and sailing. Full and half day outdoor activities are also being organised this spring by Cumbria Tourism allowing families to experience mountain boarding, quad biking and gorge scrambling to name but a few. All activity providers are ROAM activity members which is a professional assessment scheme for outdoor activity providers.

The Lodore Falls Hotel break is one of two activity-filled country breaks that can be won. The alternative break is in conjunction with The Wild Boar near Lake Windermere. The Lodore Falls activity break consists of the high wire Go Ape experience at the Whinlatter site and a mountain bike ride through the forest (or trail if preferred) on the first day and on the second it is the chance to take part the UK’s only Via Ferrata experience. The breaks include dinner on both nights at The Lodore Falls Hotel for two people.

The Lodore Falls Hotel, part of the Lake District Hotels Ltd group, is situated on the shores of Derwentwater .This imposing hotel, built in traditional Lakeland slate has had a commanding presence in the Borrowdale Valley for over 200 years. Standing in 40 acres of grounds with lake frontage and the dramatic backdrop of the spectacular Lodore Falls and surrounding mountains, this hotel has one of the finest settings in the Lake District, with access to some of the most impressive walks in the area from the front door.
