Oistr.com Announces A New Way of Booking Hotels Online: Surf, Find What You Need Based On A Map, Not A List
June 24th, 2009Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, June 2009 — Vancouver based Oistr.com received the go-ahead from Expedia to use their system to let users find hotels on a map in relation to restaurants, nightclubs and other points of interest, instead of choosing the hotel from a list.
Marketing Director and co-founder Scott Carmichael says “If you want to base your search for a hotel on the fact that you’re coming into town for the night to go to a concert at a stadium, you have to look up the stadium on a mapping site, then compare it to the simple map of a hotel you find on a typical travel site. We provide a solution allowing you to choose exactly which points you want on the map in comparison to each other without any irrelevant clutter.”
Does a hotel claim to be 5 minutes from the beach? Oistr.com is designed to let you choose your hotel by seeing the truth on a map, rather than relying on the description on a hotel website – we call this new approach Visual Travel. All additional information to help make a decision is right there on the map -including pictures, descriptions, and price ranges.
Other advanced features let a user fully customize a map by placing pins with their own pictures or businesses if they aren’t already there. These can then be seen in relation to the hotels, restaurants or other points of interest, such as golf courses, on one map. This is also an excellent way of sharing the vacation with friends.
