Promoting a small business online in a down market
June 23rd, 2009Everyone is feeling the pinch these days, the headlines are full of giant companies filing for bankruptcy, but less is made of the so called “backbone of America,” the small business. This chaos did not happen overnight, even though it seems like it did to a lot of people. Of course it is easy to sit around and blame this or that person for everything, but wasting time doing that will not change what is happening across the world right now. Author John Osgood concentrates on positive ideas for the small business owner, to help them compete and stay afloat until better times return.
When John Osgood launched his new website www.smallbusinesslistbuilding.com in June 2009, his aim was to provide tools for the small business owner to build their customer base online, rather than just rely on the old and outdated strong arm methods of finding customers.
Utilizing his regular blog, John gives away great tips for building a huge email list to his readers, and also listens to what they have to say in return, this helps to build a real relationship and keep them coming back for more.
According to John, “What I try to teach my readers and clients is to give away their best information online, and despite the fact that they sometimes worry about doing this, I teach them that even if the potential customer does not buy anything from them now, they will begin to trust them and the business owner will become the go to guy/girl, and eventually the customer will buy from them.”
Building a quality targeted email list to promote products for free is very powerful, but is not as easy as people think, and many dive in straight away and then regret it. There are lots of things you need to know about the Spam laws, and how to build a relationship with a customer without forcing them to join your email list on first contact.
About Small Business List Building:
Small Business List Building provides free articles, Podcasts and videos to help the small business owner build a list of quality clients who will continue to buy their products for years to come. For the business owner who wants to really ramp up their client base using the most up to date techniques, John Osgood has written a book called Small Business List Building, an audio version is also available from www.smallbusinesslistbuilding.com.
