IHM Global Media Corp Announce the Launch of DJ Mag Canada

October 1st, 2011

With North America establishing itself as one of the important markets in the global expansion of clubbing, it’s fitting that the most respected publication in electronic dance music makes its presence felt on the continent. The launch of DJ Mag Canada is a key development, therefore, and in partnership with IHM Global Media Corp, they look set to take the Canadian club scene by storm.

The history of DJ Mag runs parallel with the growth of dance music. Since 1991, the London-based monthly magazine has been at the forefront of pushing new music and championing the club scene as a vital part of modern culture. DJ Mag is renowned for its forward-thinking editorial policy, but its roots are firmly in the clubs and championing what’s big on the dancefloor. Their annual Top 100 DJ Poll remains the leading barometer of which DJs are the most popular on the world scene.

Over the last three years several international editions of DJ Mag have been created and DJ Mag Canada will be the latest of these. As Simon Kelly, Sales & Marketing Manager of DJ Mag in London explains:-

“DJ Mag is already well established in mainland Europe including the UK, Spain, Italy and Germany, as well as South America in Brazil, Argentina and Mexico, but we are especially excited by our first move into North America, and the launch of DJ Mag Canada. Canada is a musically rich territory having spawned artists such as Deadmau5, Richie Hawtin and current DJ Mag favourite, Heidi. We can’t wait to get to work on bringing Canada its own version of the world’s leading dance music magazine.”

Their partners in the new enterprise will be IHM Global Media Corp with the offices for DJ Mag Canada in Toronto. IHM Global Media Corp is an events and dance music media company with strong foundations in the club scene. Their strategy for supporting DJ Mag Canada will include promoting branded events across the country.

DJ Mag Canada will be presented in a monthly online digital format, but printed editions for the newsstands will also be released around significant dates in the clubbing calendar including the Top 100 DJ Poll. The launch date for the first issue will be April 2012 although the DJ Mag Canada website www.djmag.ca will be launching in January 2012. As well as using interviews and features from the UK edition, DJ Mag Canada will run original editorial content alongside reporting on the scene in Canada and its leading artists, clubs and events.

A marketing campaign will begin in January 2012 to spread the word among clubbers about the forthcoming launch of digital DJ Mag Canada. A photo-sharing website will be launched where clubbers can relive and chat about their nights out with an online community. DJ Mag Canada will be in all the major clubs across the country every weekend capturing the action as it happens and posting it on the website to build a buzz and fan base for the new magazine. Visitors to the website will also be invited to subscribe to DJ Mag Canada online for free.

“The time is right for DJ Mag Canada,” explains IHM Business Development Manager Scott Glass. “Our scene is growing every month and needs a space where everyone is welcome. DJ Mag Canada will provide that space as well as giving the rest of the world a window on what’s happening here. Clubbers will be at the heart of the new magazine and we’ll be encouraging them to get involved from day one. Here at IHM we have a passion for dance music and this is the most exciting project we’ve been involved with so far.”

As the launch date draws near, DJ Mag Canada will be reaching out to clubbers and music industry professionals, both online through its own website and social networks, and also at street level through its presence in the clubs. This will help position it as a crucial marketing tool for promoters, venues, artists and record labels dedicated to the club scene and electronic dance music.

Over the coming months, further announcements will be made as the plans for DJ Mag Canada take shape – more news coming soon.

Wayne Croner Presents Kaleidoscopic Impressions at Agora Gallery

July 5th, 2011

For Immediate Release

NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature an Long Island artist, Wayne Croner, in A Maze of Milieu. The exhibition is scheduled to run from July 26, 2011 through August 16, 2011 (opening reception: Thursday, July 28, 2011).

About the Artist

As an artist who seeks to express the ineffable through a complex system of geometry, Wayne Croner’s work will dazzle your eyes while inspiring your soul. His stylistic approach varies between hard-edged kaleidoscopic forms and supple dream-like impressions. This is inspirational art, personal and expressive yet highly evolved on a framework of inner logic. “Sacred Geometry is my soul’s language and expressing that in a form which is my art,” Croner explains. The circle, an enduring divine shape and symbol of perfection, is heavily employed throughout his body of work. The shapes act as building blocks, repeating and overlapping to create new forms such as stars, arcs, and half-moons in the negative space. This is a plane that is alive and bursting with energy. Intricate linework and spirographs act as metaphors for the artist’s inner visions. Using oil pastels, color pencils and markers, Croner’s color pairings evoke particular moods, as icy hues recede and soothe us while crimson and canary pulse with vigor.

Wayne Croner lives and works on Long Island, New York.

Life Celebration in Rita Aad’s Colorful Artworks at Agora Gallery

March 2nd, 2011

About the Artist

Rita Aad’s oil on canvas paintings utilize abstract figuration, effectively merging human and plant forms in vivid, plentiful color. Her tactile, indulgent use of paint verges on the sculptural and conveys an abundant sense of energetic motion, interconnectivity and balance. A spontaneous, impulsive recorder of life, Aad cultivates a profound sense of experiential joy which she crystallizes during her creative process. An expert of textural variation, Aad methodically builds up the canvas with thick layers of oil that she reshapes anew with palette knife and brush. Her neo-primitive motifs, inspired by the colors of Fauvism, portray a beguiling illusion of radiating warmth. Within each work lies a tender and whimsical manifestation of our collective emotional, physical and cultural landscape.

Islam & Christianity: A Meeting Place Through Art

December 5th, 2010

The Universal Book Of Hours Unites Visual Elements Of World Religions

PORTLAND, OR, November 16, 2010 – What happens when the visual vocabularies of different religions are unified in an art piece?  Award winning artist Tamara English discovered similarities in the decorative elements of Islamic tile-work and Christian medieval illuminated manuscripts.  English began exploring how these elements worked together.  The result is “The Universal Book Of Hours,” a series of oil paintings on paper depicting a twenty-four hour period, which will be exhibited in December at the North Portland Library located at  512 N. Killingsworth Street.   Each piece references a specific time of day for prayer and contemplation according to different religions, including the five daily prayers in Islam and the monastic schedule of prayer in the Christian tradition.

“The paintings are explorations of what is sacred to each of us, beyond religion,” says English, “I was curious about how we engage with our own understanding of Spirit, and draw from what is important to us to shape this understanding.”  Included in The Universal Book of Hours is imagery from quantum physics and nature.  “Some people find their deepest connection to a spiritual life through the natural world,” English states.  Science, she remarks, is another way of seeking the truth, which aligns it with religious ideals.  “My focus is on tolerance for each other’s beliefs.  And how we engage with ourselves about Spirit.”

Bookstand For The Universal Book Of Hours

The controversy over the Islamic community center near Ground Zero in New York illustrates the lack of tolerance among different religions.  The Universal Book Of Hours explores the meeting place of these differing belief systems, ultimately asking the viewer to examine his or her own understanding of what is sacred beyond label or doctrine, to allow more respect and tolerance for different paths.

Tamara English has exhibited extensively in the Pacific Northwest.  In the last year her paintings have been exhibited in New York and Chicago.  Her work is currently being featured in an international exhibition in Europe as part of the Art in Embassies Program.  The Universal Book Of Hours is funded by a grant from The Regional arts & Culture Council.  Detailed information about Tamara English and her work can be found at www.tamaraenglish.com.

Top cosmic jewelry designer David Weitzman releases Astrology talisman created at specific time of ideal star alignment

June 15th, 2009

(Givataim, Israel, June 16, 2009) – Ka Gold Jewelry, a company best known for its unique, interesting and symbolic jewelry pieces, has recently announced the release of a very special Chaldean Astrology talisman, a very strong amulet that has in its power the ability to bring both success and healing to the bearer. Crafted at a specific time of ideal star alignment, which incidentally is a rare occurrence, the Chaldean Astrology talisman also contains 7 metals that are based on the knowledge of alchemy.

“This very unique pendant will not only protect the wearer but will also help support his personal development. The beauty of the amulet is that it suits every person and situation because it contains all the latent qualities and each person uses exactly the ones he needs at a specific time,” explains top cosmic jewelry designer David Weitzman of Ka Gold Jewelry.

Israeli-born Weitzman founded Ka Gold Jewelry, which can be accessed via www.ka-gold-jewelry.com. Weitzman has dedicated himself for many years to the search for sacred knowledge. He has vast knowledge in the fields of Kabbalah, sacred geometry, Egyptian wisdom, Jewish tradition, Tibetan Buddhism and other sacred concepts.

The Chaldean order pendant contains the symbols of the 7 stars (Saturn – lead; Jupiter – tin; Mars – iron; The Sun – gold; Venus – copper; Mercury – mercury and The Moon – silver) arranged in the Chaldean order in the inner circle and the signs of the wheel of the zodiac in the outer circle.

Renowned astrologer Michael Ofek is responsible for advising when to create the amulet. Weitzman explains he only makes the Chaldean pendant when the alignment of stars is at its most ideal, affording optimal conditions for infusing the pendant with the power of action.

“Hence, this pendant is only created at specific times and only in accordance to the condition of the sky. The wearer of this item will undoubtedly feel especially protected,” Weitzman reckoned.

Meanwhile, Ka Gold Jewelry also has other new designs to offer including The Journey Ring, The Anna Becoach pendant in a circle and the Pendant of Happiness.

The Journey Ring or The Four Wings ring is created especially for truth seekers and travellers. It has a special Hebrew engraving around the stone and the font used for the engraved letters is taken from the style used in The Dead Sea Scrolls. The Anna Becoach pendant in a circle, on the other hand, is ideal for Kabbalists or Kabbalah practitioners. Kabbalists use the Anna Becoach prayer for protection, balancing and healing and the pendant sold in Ka Gold Jewelry does not only contain a stone in the center but also along the external circle lies the engraved first letters of the 42 words of the said prayer. Meanwhile, the Pendant of Happiness (Girl), which displays an image of a girl which is incidentally drawn by a girl, is a special pendant which symbolizes the time that a person feels free to dream without the need to doubt or to feel fear. The pendant also helps enliven the “inner child” that exists in a person.

Canvas Art Artist Exhibits at Grand Designs Live for Second Year

April 1st, 2009

Following the success of Grand Designs Live 2008, Kris Hardy the Hull based artist is to exhibit this year as well.

The Grand Design Live exhibition is to be held at ExCel London between 25 April and 4 May 2009. Grand Designs Live 2008 was a huge success for Kris. Making numerous contacts and gathering an outstanding amount of new orders, this exhibition was worth all the hard work. A huge draw to Kris’s stand was him painting his canvas artwork live at the exhibition. It enabled Kris to speak one to one with his prospective clients.

Kris is not averse to painting live and speaking to people whilst working. Kris appeared on ITV’s 60mm last year and is going to be on 5 more shows in the next.

Last year Grand Designs Live saw a massive increase in visitor numbers up from 40,000 in 2007 to a staggering 100,000 in 2008. 2009 is set to be as if not even more popular with the launching of domestic gadgets and gizmos that haven’t been released yet and new and innovative products of today and tomorrow’s house builds. That coupled with over 450 exhibitors.
Kris is very excited to be exhibiting at Grand Designs Live again this year. Kris graduated from the University of Huddersfield in June 2000 but he is no stranger to London after completing a 2 year MA at the Royal College of Art between 2000 and 2002. He has been producing contemporary canvas art since graduating and has exhibited work in various exhibitions, show homes, bars and salons around the UK and abroad, working with a number of interior designers to supply art work to them. He also exhibits in over 20 John Lewis departments stores, primarily in London. Through exhibiting at Grand Designs Live, he is hoping to showcase his artwork to a wider audience, different to those of John Lewis and his home town of Hull.

The launch of his website http://www.krishardy.com in 2006 has meant he has a travelling portfolio of his previous, latest, bespoke and John Lewis work. Incorporating an ecommerce system has enabled his work to be purchased online delivered to anywhere in the world.

His very contemporary approach to his artwork style and attitude to artist – client relations is refreshing. The approach he takes with his work is to produce high quality, original acrylic-on-canvas artwork that complement the client’s interior. All artwork is painted to order by Kris himself and comes in standard sizes depending on the painting format. The refreshing approach is highlighted greatly by his comment “I more than happy to do bespoke sizes and colours, as I believe if you want a piece of art for a specific space then you should not have to compromise”.
