5G Telecommunications Release Super Fast Broadband Solution

April 24th, 2010

Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom (April 23, 2010) – 5G Telecommunications, a leading provider of business broadband, mobile and on hold marketing solutions in the UK today, announces the release of a powerful broadband solution available for business clients.

5G Telecommunications are experts in the field of offering effective business broadband solutions to their customers, and are pleased to announce the release of a new, super-fast service that is both reliable and affordable. Utilising powerful fibre optic technology called Fibre To The Cabinet (FTTC), similar to that of Virgin Media, 5G Telecommunications claim that business customers who sign up to use their services will be capable of reaching download speeds of potentially up to 100mbs, with guaranteed download speeds of 15mb.

Recent tests in East London have shown the potential in FTTC technology and the advantages such speeds can hold for the end user. FTTC can be incorporated into existing technologies such as ADSL2+, yet is also seen as strikingly different to the service offered by full fibre to the home deployment.

“We’re certain that our business customers will be impressed by the business broadband solutions we can offer them, and are one of the most affordable broadband providers nationwide for those operating as an SME,” comments a spokesperson for 5G Telecommunications. “The potential download speeds businesses can experience are second to none, as is service reliability, and of course this is something which can’t be compromised in the business world. We can also offer business mobile and other communication solutions here at 5G Telecommunications and interested parties can see a breakdown of all our deals on our website.”

InfoCom says mobile and broadband main drivers of Brazilian market until 2014

September 24th, 2009

Stuttgart, Germany – Telecom spending in Brazil amounted to €31.2bn in 2008, equivalent to about 3% of the country’s GDP, and it is expected to rise to €35.6bn in 2014 at a CAAGR (compounded annual average growth rate) of 2.2%. Revenues from fixed telephony will continue to decrease despite fixed telephony carriers’ efforts to attract customers by decreasing service pricing and increasing geographical coverage.

Mobile telephony will remain the main driver of the telecom sector. The growth in subscription will offset the decline in prices. Indeed, if ARPU (average revenue per user) is expected to decrease from currently €9.00 to €8.40 in 2014, the total subscriptions will increase to 185.9 millions by 2014, representing a penetration rate per inhabitant of nearly 90%. Growth opportunities will likely come from the prepaid market, particularly the low-income users and SME segment, and from Region I, where mobile penetration is still relatively low. Non-voice services should gain some momentum as soon as 3G based mobile broadband services become more geographically available. Furthermore, the launch of 4G (LTE) technologies in the first part of the next decade should further boost mobile broadband by allowing faster and enhanced mobile data services.

Brazilian telecom market trends reported by InfoCom also include:

– Broadband penetration continues to increase as at end-2008, over 17% of all Brazilian households had broadband Internet access, up from about 10% in 2006. xDSL is the leading broadband technology while 2.5 million are cable modem subscribers: Embratel’s subsidiary Net Serviços (formerly Globo Cabo) controlls more than 90% of the cable modem segment with 2.2 million subscriptions.

– Brazil is one of the fast-developing economies in the world along with China, India and Russia. Coupled with its large population and ongoing industrialisation, Brazil is expected to become one of the leading countries in agriculture, manufacturing, mining, service and telecommunication sectors.

Free online internet speed test service

August 25th, 2009

Internet surfing has become a part of our lives these days. Whether you need some information regarding some issue or want to play online games; want to download some song or keep yourself up to date with the latest gossip about your favorite celebrity; want to chat with friends or watch your favorite program online; its internet that is our first stop to get all we want. But what actually enables us to do all this is the bandwidth or the internet speed. It is internet speed of our connection that determines whether you really surf the net in true sense or get stuck every now and then. Regardless of the internet connection you are using the provider should meet the claims about the service. You might have subscribed for an internet connection with a downloading speed of 512kbps which might show on screen even 100Mbps but actually downloading the files at a 56kbps rate! This is how internet speed test service helps you in determining the actual speed of the connection.
An internet speed test determines two things for you:
? Downloading Speed
? Uploading Speed
It is normal to get a high download rate than upload speed of your internet connection in results. Results also tell you your IP address and that who is your internet service provider. Whatever is your location on the globe, whatever type of internet connection you are using, whosoever is the service provider and whatever technology you are using; an internet speed test service will show the actual bandwidth of the connection you are using. You can use the results to determine the worth of a connection; after all why to pay more when you are getting less in return. You can use it to troubleshoot the downloading and uploading problems by sharing these results with your internet service provider.

A number of internet speed test options are available on internet. The important thing in this regard at the user’s end is that you chose a server nearest to your location so as to get accurate results. Also you are required to enter the type of connection you are using (modem, DSL, Cable Net etc.) and the area code. Usually these tests work by downloading a file to your system that checks the speed of your connection and the process is completed in seconds. Another consideration in this regard is to check the speed of your connection at various times across the length of the day as when the net itself is busy your connection also tends to be slow. Doing the test different times of the day gives the most accurate results of the speed test.

There are factors that may affect the results of an internet speed test; some of them are given below:
? Slow Processor
? Too many applications running at the same time
? Downloading and uploading the data at the time of performing test

There are sites that charge you for the test but why to pay for the process when you can get same accurate results absolutely free of cost. Just make sure that the site is trust worthy to save your PC from potential hazards that may be downloaded to your system in the form of deadly viruses and Trojan horses.

InfoCom says mobile broadband showing uptake in EU region

August 10th, 2009

Stuttgart, Germany – According to InfoCom’s latest release of its Broadband Monitoring Service, at end-2008, there were more than 122m broadband connections in the EU-25 representing over 18% increase from the previous year, with prices and access speeds, which have improved significantly. Broadband penetration per household grew to over 62% (+9% YoY). xDSL is still the dominant broadband technology with 74% of the total market followed by cable modem with 14%. 2008 was characterised by a certain uptake of mobile broadband, which increased by 4 percentage points to over 10% in 2008. FTTx connections still represent only 2% of the total broadband market.

Mobile broadband nearly doubled its subscription base in one year from 6.5m to 12.6m in 2008, showing a certain uptake in Europe thanks to the impact of a number of factors, among which price cuts, the offering of flat-rate plans and improved HSPA network coverage. Austria and Finland are the clear market leaders with a relatively high penetration rates compared to the other countries.

The total broadband market in the EU-25 will continue to grow over the next five years despite many countries are reaching saturation levels especially for fixed broadband. The strongest drivers for growth will be fixed broadband for rural areas and, especially, mobile broadband.

About Broadband Quarterly Monitoring Service: The Broadband Quarterly Monitoring is currently available on a yearly subscription basis. It provides a large amount of indicators – among which ULL lines, DSL & FTTx, CaTV and cable modem subscribers, ARPU – for over 30 countries worldwide, with forecasts until 2012.
