The Law Office of Susan R. Green has successfully defended a Baltimore, MD student in an assault case that garnered national attention. A student at Baltimore’s Reginald F. Lewis High School in Baltimore had charges against her for attacking her teacher, Jolita Berry on Friday, April 3rd. Ms Berry said the attack began when the student requested permission to turn up the volume of the classroom radio. The teacher began calling her “ghetto” asking if she was “from the projects”. Each party claimed that the other struck them first.

The teacher filed charges against the student after the incident. The incident was recorded by another student’s cell phone and uploaded to MySpace. Although the video clearly depicted the student on top of the teacher striking repeated blows, Ms. Green argued that the cell phone video did not portray a clear picture of what happened as ‘there was no beginning, middle or end’. Due to Ms Green’s defense, the 2 criminal charges against the student were dropped.
