Boutique La Fleur Go Green

May 4th, 2010

Online clothing shop boutiquelafleur.com has launched a new Eco-Friendly category.

In today’s lifestyle, we are careful not to eat food that has been subjected to pesticides and toxic chemicals, but what about our clothes? Some of the clothing we wear next to our skin has been treated with chemicals, not only the material (cotton, bamboo etc) but also, the dyes that are used can be toxic.
Clothing produced in China has more toxicity than any other country. There are few regulations in Asian countries which mean that eco-unfriendly items are more likely to come from that region.

The best way to be sure your clothes are chemical free is to check the labels. If the label says ‘organic’ then the crop to produce the material must have been grown organically (without harmful pesticides).

‘Going Green’ does not mean you have to sacrifice fashion. Designer Allison Parris has an Eco-friendly line available at Boutique La Fleur.

Leading Celebrity Fashion Website Is Coming To Cheltenham To Find Stylish Locals

April 26th, 2010

The UK’s fastest growing independent celebrity fashion website is coming to Cheltenham on Thursday 29th April in a bid to track down the most stylish locals.

Leading celebrity fashion website www.MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk is soon to hit the streets of Cheltenham to find the most fashionable members of the public, as part of their search to find the most stylish places in the UK.

The team will be based outside House of Fraser on the Promenade at 12 o’clock next Thursday and will be filming the fashion savvy public to find out where they got their outfit and which celebrities inspire their wardrobe.

MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk will be recording vox-pops of the best dressed people in Cheltenham to discover more about their dress sense. The videos will then feature on the website and offer the Cheltenham fashionistas the chance to five minutes of fame.

At 1 o’clock, the team will move to the high street and will be found outside Topshop. This aims to get a collection of different styles and will compare the fashion on the Promenade, where shops such as Karen Millen offer designer wear, to the high street style on offer at stores such as New Look and Next.

After already visiting Gloucester, Cheltenham will be the next stop for the MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk crew, after which they will be hitting the streets of Bristol, Birmingham, Swindon and Bath to gage the style in various locations.

Andy Barr, Marketing Director of MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk said;

“As a website that helps people steal the celebrity fashion of their favourite stars, we were keen to get out on the streets and speak to people about their fashion and to hear about which stars influence people’s dress sense the most.

“We started our journey in Gloucester, but are really excited about hitting the streets of Cheltenham to see just how different the style is there. We want people to come and see us and give us their thoughts on the fashion of today, as it’s great to hear opinions directly from our target audience.”

34% of women would swap their guy for Cheryl Cole’s wardrobe

February 17th, 2010

Research by the UK’s fastest growing independent celebrity fashion website has found that a large amount of women would swap their relationship for a celebrity’s wardrobe.
In a new study by http://www.MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk of 1,206 women aged 18-30 it has been revealed that 34% of them would trade in their partner if it meant they could own Cheryl Cole’s wardrobe.
When asked which celebrity’s wardrobe they would swap their guy for, only 0.5% of participants chose Fearne Cotton’s wardrobe, whilst almost 20% opted for Lady Gaga’s style.
MyCelebrityFashion profiles the fashion of many celebrities including Cheryl Cole and has found an increase in interest for her contemporary yet classy style.
When asked why they liked Cheryl Cole’s style, the majority of participants, 52%, commented that they liked her strong Newcastle roots and background.
The top five celebrity wardrobes according to the participants, by the percentage who said they would swap their partner for them:
1. Cheryl Cole – 34%
2. Lady Gaga – 20%
3. Kate Moss – 8%
4. Dannii Minogue – 5%
5. Victoria Beckham – 4%

The bottom five:
1. Fearne Cotton – 0.5%
2. Katy Perry – 0.3%
3. Lindsay Lohan – 0.2%
4. Peaches Geldof – 0.1%
5. Madonna – 0.1%
With the importance of role models ever-important in the fashion industry, this study shows that the public are more likely to favour celebrities they can relate to such as Cheryl Cole, over Victoria Beckham who has recently declined in popularity on the site. However her other half David Beckham still remains a firm fashion icon, although he has less competition from the male fashion scene.
Speaking about these latest findings, Andy Barr, Marketing Director of http://www.MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk said:
“I think these results prove how important the role of celebrities in fashion has become, although I was surprised by the lengths women would go to achieve their dream wardrobe.“
He continued;
“It’s fascinating to see that women would want to wear the more controversial clothing of stars such as Lady Gaga. The fashion industry is going through so many changes, I think the best way to find out about them is from celebrities.”

Women’s fashion trends that men hate

January 11th, 2010

New research by the UK’s fastest growing affiliate fashion website has found the top things men hate about women’s fashion trends include UGG boots, Jeggings and tattoos.

In a revealing new study of 1,564 men aged between 18 and 30, www.MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk found that certain things women find fashionable is a turn-off for some men, including too much makeup and tattoos.

Just over half of the men disliked the fashion phenomenon of Jeggings.  Just 21% liked the look, while a third didn’t even know what they were. UGG boots were the most hated item of clothing with 57% of men saying so. A third said they liked them, making Uggs the most well known on the list. 38% of men disliked the Harem style trousers and leg warmers were hated by 30%.

It was not only style, but colour that proved to make a massive impact on men. A massive 73% hated the recent trend in neon fashions; this was closely followed by pink. Darker colours were considered much more popular with 3 in 5 men saying they found dark coloured clothing sexy.

44% of men didn’t like the idea of tattoos on women, the main reason for this being poor designs whilst 1 in 5 thought they looked tacky. One third of the men liked tattoos and 23% said they didn’t mind them.

The subject of makeup provided a mix of answers, 68% of men said they disliked too much slap, however 20% of these said some make up was better than none at all.

Alexandra Burke, Alexa Chung and Cheryl Cole were deemed the most stylish women in showbiz, claiming 83% of all answers. From the men, Rhianna failed to score many points and 3 in 5 men labelled her the worst dressed celebrity of 2009.

In contrast, when questioned on which female fashion trends they liked the most, the top answer with 37% was the maxi-dress. The one shoulder dress was second with 25%, and other contenders included A-Line skirts and skinny jeans.

However when asked what styles that men hated on other men, skinny jeans were rated top hated taking 57% of the answers.

Speaking about these latest findings, Andy Barr, Marketing Director of MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk said;

“It’s really interesting to see that some of last year’s fashions have been so unappealing, particularly when they have sold so successfully. It’s a fascinating look at how men and women think so differently.”

He continued;

“Even though this is what the men think, I doubt it will change what women like and how they dress. It’s all a matter of personal opinion and feeling comfortable in your own skin.”

1 in 4 women only wear 10% of their wardrobe

December 17th, 2009

New research by the UK’s fastest growing affiliate fashion website has found that 1 in 4 women wear just 10% of their wardrobe and 91% have an item in their cupboard that still has the tags on.

25% of women only wear one tenth of all the clothes they own, a new study by www.MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk of 1,623 women aged 18-30 has shown.

Almost all of the respondents claimed to have something in their wardrobe that they hadn’t even taken the label off of and 79% have bought something in the past that they knew they would never wear.

Of the women who wore less than half of their wardrobe, the main reason was habit, with 53% admitting that they were stuck in a rut when it came to being adventurous with their style.

84% confessed to keeping hold of clothes that were too small for them, in the hope that they could wear them again one day and 46% said that they had something in their wardrobe that was 10 years old, that they thought might come back into fashion one day.
MyCelebrityFashion also found that only 8% of the women who took part in the research claimed to wear all the clothes they owned, but 3 in 5 said they had duplicate items in their wardrobe, such as two pairs of the same jeans. 67% quite fancy the idea of a capsule wardrobe, an idea which has been made more popular by Gok Wan, which involves owning around 20 key pieces which can be mixed and matched to make up multiple outfits and looks.

1 in 3 women, 33%, said they were unhappy with their style, whilst more than half said it was primarily their financial situation that prevented them from getting the look they wanted.
Andy Barr, Marketing Director of MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk, commented on these findings;

“I think this new study proves that although plenty of women have shopped all of their lives, they still feel they have nothing to wear. It’s really surprising that so many women wear so little of the clothes they actually own .The idea of a capsule wardrobe is becoming a more popular concept, but I think it will be a long time before the majority of females narrow their wardrobe down to just 20 staple items.

He continued, “It seems a good clear out is in order for many! As for those who feel they can’t have the style they want due to cost, more need to realise that celebrity style can be theirs for a fraction of the price that the stars pay. High street retailers have a lot to offer.”
