Next Generation Trolling Lures Take Game Fishing By The Hook

September 29th, 2010

Game fishing charts a new course as recently launched next generation trolling lures bring in latest innovations that take the 21st century sportfishing to new heights.

Australian company Scent Blazer officially rolled-out recently as part of its full range of game fishing products, patented state of the art trolling lures that combine science and practicality.

Trolling lure is a baiting device hooked to a fishing line behind a slowly moving boat during deep water or ocean fishing. The use of this device has been proven to increase the chances of catching big fish.

Designed to secure a winning catch, Scent Blazer trolling lures have water intakes at the front of the lure that connect into a range of detachable chambers, allowing both anglers and fishermen to load the lure with baits, fish attractants, weights, rattles, lights, and other related devices.

As the lure is trolled, water from its intakes passes over the bait inside the perforated chamber and the scent of the bait is passed out and dispersed directly behind the back of the lure.

“Not only does a Scent Blazer Lure look like a fish but when it’s loaded with bait it smells and tastes like a fish,” explained the Australian fishing gear maker in its website ScentBlazer.com.

It added that Scent Blazer lures have gone through extensive tests on the east coast of Australia, Hawaii and Mexico for over 3 years by comparing the performance with some of the current trolling lures available in the market.

It further stated that the tests validated observations of Scent Blazer being able to outfish any of the other trolling lures at a highly respectable ratio of 5 to 1, regardless of spread in almost all cases of multiple hook ups.

At the widely acclaimed International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades (ICAST) held last July in Last Vegas, USA, Scent Blazer Lures and Teasers were among the newest lines of sportfishing products that were launched into the thriving game fishing market.

Generating more than $125 billion in economic output and more than one million American jobs, recreational fishing has been regarded as major business today, with its economic contributions noted to have grown steadily over the last several decade, according to American Sportfishing Association (ASA) which sponsors the annual ICAST.

Bowie-Knives Announces Website Launch

December 2nd, 2009

Dave Sabot, President of CheapHumidors.com, announced the launch of a new website in his online empire. The new website, Bowie-Knives.com, was officially launched on Monday, November 8, 2009 and is the self-proclaimed, exclusive, bowie knives only website on the internet.

The website features bowie knives from some of the top manufacturers including Cold Steel, SOG, Boker USA, CASE Cutlery, Ka-bar, Ontario Knife Co. and United Cutlery. Additionally, the site includes large and small steel blade and Grivory (the latest in fiberglass reinforced plastic) blade knives as well as rubber training knives.

Bowie-Knives.com will also feature a special section with bowie hunting knife information that will include tips on purchasing, caring for and sharpening bowie knives. Visitors to the site will find new information posted weekly.

As a special offer as part of the new site launch, Mr. Sabot is offering a ten percent off coupon code that can be found on the Bowie-Knives.com Twitter, Facebook and MySpace pages. In addition to the grand opening promotion, the site will offer free shipping and handling to all location within the continental United States.

An avid hunter, Mr. Sabot is most excited to get involved with people interested in such activities as camping, hiking, fishing and hunting. “It’s less about offering the products and more about networking with those interested in the great outdoors.” Dave went on to say, “I didn’t want to disperse my efforts too thin and chose to start with providing the best experience to customers searching for a specific product.” When asked about the possibility of other specific hunting accessory websites, Dave explained, “At this point it’s too early to tell, but  I wouldn’t consider it outside of the realm of possibility.”

David Sabot opened his first website, Cheaphumidors.com, back in June 1997, hosting it on a free site with nothing more than a picture of three humidors, a price and an address to send checks to. Since then, he has grown his site in to one of the most successful cigar-related destinations online.

“In May of 1997, on Mother’s Day, I was visiting my brother in New Jersey. It was a beautiful day and we sat outside on the patio. He took out some fine Cuban cigars and we started to smoke and BBQ. When I was leaving to go home he threw a few cigars at me and told me to enjoy them.”

“I really didn’t know too much about cigars or how to store them, so I turned to the Internet. What I found out was that you needed a thing called a humidor to properly store cigars. So I started shopping for them. I went to my local stores, consignment shops, etc. Their prices were un-real. They wanted $200-$300 for a box to store cigars. I almost fainted. I did some research and it turned out there were other people like me. Guys who wanted to store some cigars but didn’t want to spend a fortune doing it. Well it doesn’t take much to see there was a market here that was pretty much unfilled.”

“I found a company that would supply me with humidors and I could order only a few at a time for $45 apiece. I bought one as a sample and to store my own cigars in and decided to take a picture and throw it on a free-hosted Web site. Much to my delight I started to receive orders and inquires for the product and as they say, the rest is history.”

In addition to his bowie knives and humidors websites, Dave also recently opened a cigar lighters website, BuyLighters.com, in early 2009.

ATLANTIC SALMON FLY FISHING SEASON EXCITING FOR BOTH EXPERIENCED AND INEXPERIENCED ANGLERS

Blackville, New Brunswick – There was a time not so long ago when the thrill of landing a 30-pound Atlantic salmon on a fly rod was either a memory for an angler with years or experience, or a dream for one without. Over-fishing in the 1980’s led to a ban on fishing the fresh stream waters of maritime Canada and the northeast United States for this vigorous fish.

Thanks to conservation efforts by both the Atlantic Salmon Federation and U.S. Department of Fish & Game, the population has quickly rebounded, providing anglers the opportunity to catch-and-release from April until October each year.

And with outdoor recreation and nature tourism continuing to increase in popularity, the timing is ideal for anglers of all skill levels to experience the exhilaration associated with landing an aggressive Atlantic salmon on a fly rod.

“It’s difficult to describe the sensation one gets from landing such a large, voraciously feeding fish,” said Katherine Hughes, manager for Miramichi Black Rapids Lodge in New Brunswick, Canada.

“Casting from a fully-guided boat in rapidly moving water is a fun challenge. Coupled with the fight of a large salmon, it’s no wonder anglers come back to for this experience year after year,” she said.

According to Hughes, the conservation gap bypassed a generation of anglers, and many are missing out on a unique angling experience.

“Fly rod anglers are dedicated sportsmen and sportswomen with an appetite for landing all sorts of fish with a fly rod. Most people think of rainbow and brown trout when they think of fly fishing, but an enthusiast will cast a fly for just about anything, including bonefish in the Caribbean or Atlantic salmon or brook trout in maritime Canada. When it was not possible to fish for Atlantic salmon, many sportsmen were not able to share this experience with their children” he said.

Hughes, an avid outdoorsman with international experience in lodging including stints in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and safari in Africa, is excited about sharing the Atlantic salmon fishing experience with anyone interested in a new adventure.

The Miramichi Black Rapids Lodge provides fully-guided trips on the legendary Miramichi River in New Brunswick. After a day of fishing on the river, guests enjoy home-cooked, hearty meals by the lodge chef, and plenty of time to swap fishing stories.

“Even if you’re not interested in fishing, or if you’d like to travel with family who isn’t keen on the activity, there are many other activities to experience in this peaceful Maritimes setting,” Hughes said.

Olive introduces Children to Sport of Fly Fishing

Lifelong Washington resident Kirk Werner is an avid fly fisherman. As he’s also a free-lance illustrator and graphic designer, it is only natural that he should merge his love of fly fishing with his love of art and create a picture book to introduce children to the sport. Kirk’s first two books, Olive the Little Woolly Bugger and Olive and the Big Stream have just been released by Swimming Kangaroo Books and are already receiving much acclaim from the fly fishing world.

Matt Wilhelm, the National Education Coordinator of the Federation of Fly fishers says “This is a wonderful fly-fishing tale for both young anglers and the angler that is young at heart. Kirk Werner does a great job of including fundamental fly-fishing topics in a great story that catches both your attention and your eye.” With the help of Olive and a colorful cast of characters, children will get hooked on fly-fishing.

In Olive the Little Woolly Bugger, Olive wants to be a dry fly like her colorful companions at Camp Tightloops, Randal the Royal Coachman, Sally the Yellow Sally, and
Stan the Stimulator. Try as she might, Olive just can’t float like the snobby dry flies, but the drab little streamer fly soon learns what she can do! From earning a coveted spot in The Fly Box to catching a wild trout in The Big Stream, Olive discovers that everyone has a special purpose in life.

In his foreword to Olive the Little Woolly Bugger, International Game Fish Association Junior World Recordholder, Tyler Befus says, “When I first started, there were very few books that kids could learn about fly fishing. It is great to see that Kirk Werner realized there was a need for more kids’ fly fishing books and that he shares my passion for this great sport.”

An avid environmentalist, Werner made sure to put a strong conservation message in Olive and the Big Stream, stressing the importance of catching and releasing wild trout. Werner says, “It’s important to attract kids to the sport of fly-fishing, and fishing in general. Only by having future generations of anglers that appreciate the delicate nature of our wild fisheries can we have continued stewardship of the resource. Perhaps a young child will read Olive and in part because of the fun nature of my story they’ll want to go fishing. Then just maybe that child will grow up to support conservation issues and catch and release fishing where wild fish populations are dependent on it for survival.”

At a more basic level, the books offer an enticing alternative to kids who otherwise might spend their free time doing nothing but playing video games. Says Werner, “Getting a kid hooked on fishing means getting that kid outdoors, enjoying all that nature has to offer, instead of sitting inside playing a video game.”

Werner has created a winner. Captain Mark Taylor, President of the Washington Council of Trout Unlimited, says the book is “A fun read for both children and adults! The excellent art work and fun characters, along with the importance of taking care of the resources, make this a must for the fishing family’s library!”

Werner has more Olive books planned, with Olive Goes for a Wild Ride scheduled for release later this year. Olive already has her own website at http://www.olivethewoollybugger.com/. With eye catching illustrations and a touch of whimsy, the Olive books are sure to charm their way into the hearts of adults and children alike.
