As Economy Continues To Struggle More People Look To Make A Living Online

December 4th, 2010

Las Vegas, NV – November 11, 2010 — American workers are trying to ‘build a business online’, as becoming or staying employed becomes more and more risky everyday. Americans are looking for stability and a way to feed their family in our current recession. Many are finding that starting an online business puts their futures back in their hands and out of the hands of employers. People watch their livelihoods go down the drain from what was once considered a ‘good job’ as American companies downsize or outsource to make it themselves.

Kurt and Alurell Rasche, owners of Max Power Marketing, LLC, offer these helpful tips to help you get started if you are one of the people trying to make the shift to online business:

“A big problem is, we were not taught how to run a successful business in school” says Kurt Rasche of Max Power Marketing, LLC. “People come up with some great ideas, but have no business plan, marketing budget, or experience owning and operating their own online business.”

“I have watched people spend their money on ridiculous items, like a neon sign when they are open from 9am to 5pm and live in the desert.” says Alurell Rasche. “You have to have a plan to get your website built, get your site ranked in the search engines and have professional sales copy written for you if you want to survive online”. Alurell continues “The thing is, you can make a great living online from the comfort of your home. You just have to go through the “school of hard knocks”, self study (amazon.com is one of our best friends) or find someone that can help you get where your wanting to go”

They say that 9 out of 10 new businesses fail. If this is true, Kurt Rasche says “It is not usually from a bad business idea, but from bad advice (family and friends that mean well, but have never ran a business themselves) and the failure to lay out a plan for success. You can’t just fly by the seat of your pants and hope everything works out.”

If you are looking to become an entrepreneur and escape the corporate rat race, you can find more on this subject at Max Power Marketing’s free blog (maxpowermarketing.net) and check out examples of professional web design at the portfolio page of maxpowermarketing.com. Kurt and Alurell Rasche are also available for consultation. They help new or struggling businesses get off the ground and help lay the foundation, for a better chance at having a successful online business venture.

The Art Institute of Vancouver becomes a degree-granting institution

April 29th, 2010

Vancouver, BC, April 15, 2010 – The Art Institute of Vancouver makes a big impact while leaving a small footprint by offering a unique Graphic Design degree program with a social conscience.

The Art Institute of Vancouver was granted approval to offer a Bachelor of Applied Design in Graphic Design from the Minister of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development in April 2010.

The school looks forward to welcoming students to the degree program in May 2010. The program will be 3 years (36 months),  or 12 – 11 week quarters, and will be composed of  180 academic credits. The degree will include a focus on the increasingly vital relationship between design and sustainable principles, in recognition of the growing need for designers who can provide solutions while creating sustainable, eco-conscious designs.

Tom Kim, President of The Art Institute of Vancouver, said, “One of the many reasons for the school to offer bachelor degrees is to provide our students more time with our excellent academic team to further learn, absorb, and develop their professional and technical skills, thus improving their competitiveness in pursuing employment and promotion in a related field.”

Kim confirmed that the school will actively pursue obtaining approval to offer bachelor degrees in each of its other program areas, with four shortlisted for submission later this year. He added, “We believe that our prospective, current, and past students deserve a bachelor degree option, adding to our valuable, industry-relevant diploma program offerings.”

The Art Institute of Vancouver submitted the proposal for the Bachelor of Applied Design in Graphic Design to the Ministry of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development in Spring 2009. The Degree Quality Assessment Board (DQAB) subsequently sent two teams of education experts to assess the program proposal and the school’s capacity to become a degree granting institution.

Sunita Wiebe, Director of Faculty Development at The Art Institute of Vancouver said, “ We are committed to producing leaders – dedicated, innovative individuals who will revolutionize sustainable design and its impact on everyday living.”

About the Bachelor of Applied Design in Graphic Design

The Art Institute of Vancouver Bachelor of Applied Design in Graphic Design is designed to be a ground-breaking program in Western Canada, focusing on the increasingly vital relationship between design and sustainable principles. As environmental demands escalate and take centre focus in educational and political discourse, it addresses a growing need for designers who can provide solutions while creating sustainable, eco-conscious designs. The proposed degree seeks to set an exceptional standard by leading the education movement towards sustainable practices; with the aim to produce designers who combine technical aptitude, critical thinking skills and ethical awareness.
