“Trunk”, “Fronds”, “Crescent” – Dubai’s interpretation of an island paradise

August 9th, 2010

From high rise to low rise – in Jumeirah you don’t have to look up to find luxury. This district is characterized by low rise splendid villa complexes. Thus even more the famous “Burj Al Arab” stands out on the Jumeirah Beach. Jumeirah developed from a historic fishery quarter to one of the richest and most popular residential area of Dubai. The long sandy Jumeirah Beach is a great meeting point to refresh and a lot of beach hotels are settled here. Next to Burj Al Arab the fun park Wild Wadi Water Park invites to enjoy the crazy slides and the close Madinat Jumeirah evokes an Arabic Venice within the desert. The one who decides to stay in this district will be part of a beach oasis with a lot of attractions and unwinding atmosphere.

However the true highlight is not settled on the mainland. Via a bridge people can reach the first of the three man-made palm islands – The Palm Jumeirah. The three main parts are “The Trunk“, “The Fronds“(17 palm branches) and the protecting “crescent”. The obvious design is a settlement of villas, apartments, holiday apartments and hotels surrounded by millions of palm trees.

The stunning entirety can best be gazed from space. As long as space shuttle flights cannot be booked as package, it is recommendable to visit the website „Dubai Exclusive Hotels“. The tour operator „Emirates Exclusive Hotels“ invites to experience this grandiosity by oneself. Either an exclusive accommodation inside the hotel Atlantis on “The crescent”, an individual stay within a luxurious apartment on “The Fronds” or a breathtaking “Seawings” flight with a water plane to enjoy the beauty from above – the tour operator’s portfolio meet unique desires.

Artificial but artful – The Palm Jumeirah was created to marvel and keeps one’s promise beyond all expectations.

MustSeeIndia.com, one stop for all travel related information for India, has partnered with Rural Tourism Network Enterprise (RTNE) for hotel bookings. The deal makes provisions for customers to book hotel rooms directly on MustSeeIndia.com.

RTNE is known to empower hotels in rural areas. It works with locals in the Bharat part of India and imparts entrepreneurial skills to them. This is a significant contribution, considering that it helps in fuelling the rural tourism industry.

Vikas Rana, CEO, MustSeeIndia.com revealed, “The key consequence of this pact is that we have offered hotels to our customers at the far-off locations at the most affordable prices. Most importantly, all this happens at the click of a button, literally!”

This new option allows clients to scan through information of various hotels in India and see the photos to get a slice of reality and book directly. This saves the clients from the trouble of having to spend hours finding out viable accommodation options and zeroing in on one of them. There are very few sites that can book in remote areas.

Saurabh Jha from RTNE shared that, “I think MustSeeIndia.com and we at RTNE have struck the right chord by customizing the accommodation options and bringing them to the doorstep, or rather, the desktop of our clients. July 1st, 2009

There are several new experiences at the Lodore Falls Hotel which are proving popular with visitors and locals too.

There’s the new ‘Café Culture’ at the Leisure Club, new treatments for men in the Beauty Salon, a new hot tub with stunning views across the lake and Cat Bells – and finally a new life enhancing club called ZEST!

The whole ambience at the Lodore Falls is one of relaxation and a chance to spoil yourself – and with a number of local people using the facilities, the ZEST experience was an obvious next step.

Zest is a new club that offers a schedule of treatments over 3, 6 or 12 months. It entitles you to a range of half hour or full hour treatments at greatly reduced prices and is very simple to use. The longer your membership the greater the discount on treatments.

It’s not just the ladies that are making use of Zest. Christine Bibby, Salon Manager said “treatments for men are now very popular. We wanted to make sure we can appeal to gentlemen too, so we have launched new facials as well as Turkish wet shaves and massages. Keswick Hotel inn serves truly British menu

June 26th, 2009

The 17th century Kings Arms may be one of the oldest establishments in Keswick, but is certainly up to date with the food on offer.

As the new truly local menu testifies; offering a true taste of the Lakes and Cumbria for visitors and locals during the holidays. The hotel has worked closely with local celebrity Chef Peter Sidwell from Good Taste to create a new and exciting menu for the Kings Arms – putting back the authenticity into a British Pub menu and using as many local ingredients as possible. Enjoy a taste of the Lakes in the cosy surroundings of a real ale pub serving favourites like potted duck pate, fish in beer batter, and pies with ingredients from our region. The pies are proving a real success; proper Shepherds pie using Herdwick lamb and local cheese, Beef and Ale pie made with Jennings Cumberland Beer, or try the Cheese and Leek pie made with local Crofton cheese.

Peter said “our research reinforced what we already knew – people want simple, well cooked comfort food that is truly British. We are lucky to have such high quality ingredients from fells, rivers and fields that are quite untouched. That’s why the local ingredients taste so good, cooked simply and done well. The ingredients are so local that you can taste a dish in the pub and source the ingredients in Keswick – you can take them home and enjoy a taste of the Lakes again.”

Keswick is the walking capital of England and the Kings Arms location is one of the most enviable of all the Keswick hotels. Gary Price the General Manager said “walkers really enjoy staying with us – both famous walking hero’s and holiday makers alike, because we know how to look after them: great breakfasts, packed lunches and food to fuel the soul in the evening after an exhilarating day out. Our new menu is a classic – you won’t find any curry, chilli or pasta, just a menu full of Great British dishes.

The Kings Arms is part of the Lake District Hotels Ltd group of hotels which encompasses the Skiddaw Hotel in Keswick, Lodore Falls Hotel and The Borrowdale Hotel, The Inn on the Lake on Ullswater and The George Hotel in Penrith.

A cultural summer in Andalucia

June 5th, 2009

The long Andalucian summer has just begun and this year promises to be particularly hot with Spain’s largest region hosting some of Europe’s liveliest cultural and sporting events. From music and dance, international golf tournaments, bull fighting and flamenco to the annual grape harvest for the region’s finest Sherries – Andalucia has it all! And all this within striking distance of Finca Cortesin Hotel, Golf & Spa, a new luxury boutique hotel in southern Spain.

Few festivals can compete with Granada’s International Festival of Music and Dance for the splendour of the backdrop or the sumptuousness of the venues. The festival sweeps the stunning city off its feet for three weeks between 25 June and 14 July this year. Everywhere, from tiny cafes to courtyards in the Alhambra, the fairytale Palace of Charles V, will be hosting recitals and dance performances from the likes of The London Symphony Orchestra, The Baroque Music Ensemble, The National Ballet Company and local Andalucian guitarists and flamenco dancers. What better way to discover this beguiling city than through some of the best musicians in the world?

Nor is Granada alone in offering great music and dance in Andalucia this summer. Perhaps enjoy Placido Domingo singing with the Almeria City Orchestra in June, or discover the delightfully haunting sound of Sephardic Music in Cordoba’s Botanical Gardens, also in June.

The Feria is the most important festival of the summer in Andalucia. Whilst many towns and villages hold their own, Malaga’s is known to be the biggest and best and takes place from 14 – 23 August this year. By day join the throngs of flamenco dancers in the streets, sample local delicacies from the many food stalls or simply watch the locals and their horses ride through town in traditional dress. The real party begins in typically Andalucian style – late – and is dedicated to flamenco dance and music, pena music groups, firework displays and merriment.

The Andalucian summer lasts well into September and so do the region’s cultural offerings. The beginning of the month sees Ronda’s bullfighting stadium, the oldest in Spain, host the Corrida Goyesca, a fight between bull and men dressed as Goyaesque characters. If blood sports don’t appeal then Jerez’s celebration of the grape harvest might well. The festival not only celebrates Andalucia’s most famous drink, sherry, but also the renowned Spanish riders and Flamenco, in an event rooted in the region and its people.

Last but not least, this autumn sees Finca Cortesin Hotel, Golf & Spa host the Volvo World Match Play Championship for the first time. The international golf tournament has seen the likes of Ernie Els taking the title in the past; in 2009, Finca Cortesin will welcome the best golfers in the world to Andalusia, including Tiger Woods.

Finca Cortesin Hotel, Golf & Spa is a new 67-suite five-star hotel near the tiny town of Casares on the Andalucian coast – the perfect base for Andalucia’s many cultural and sporting highlights.

Finca Cortesin offers a four-day “Golf Experience” package from 600 Euros per person. The package includes three-night accommodation with complimentary upgrade (dependent on availability) at the Finca Cortesin Hotel, two green-fees at Finca Cortesin Golf Club, complimentary breakfast, early check-in and late check out as well as access to the Finca Cortesin Spa.
