Turning your newspapers into an iPhone application?…Now it is possible

March 21st, 2009

Follonica, GR  ( PRFriend ) March 21 ,2009  – When it was presented for the first time by Apple it was even named “the God machine”, and the iPhone seems to be really able to carry out the biblical hypothesis connected to a possible human absolute and instantaneous knowledge. Once again thanks to the American engineers planning capacities, in a little tablet of 10 centimetres with the thickness and the weight of a roll it is now possible to bring in our pocket not only our favourite music, videos, movies, messages, images and dates but it is also possible to have under our fingers the whole human knowledge via the Internet and the maps of every region and city all around the world via satellite. The iPhone is a communication tool that is much more that a simple telephone: it has been created for those who can’t live without the Internet any more.

Consequentially, for many people all around the world it would be perfect to receive all their favourite newspapers directly on their iPhone. Nowadays thanks to the PageStreamer technology it is possible to distribute large digital documents in an easy, economic and user friendly way by also providing publishers with an easy integration path with their current IT infrastructure.

8080 and the PageStreamer technology offer a real innovative way of spreading a full mobile newspaper(http://www.pagestreamer.com/pricing.html) by starting just from a simple and common PDF file designed to be transformed into an highly optimized, visually pleasant and really usable iPhone application(http://www.pagestreamer.com).

The important consequence of this technological solution is that, in this way, publishers have the incredible possibility of distribute and sell their newspapers via the iPhone App Store, and moreover, users will start reading or buying their favourite newspaper on the iPhone without losing time in downloading the full PDF file before doing that.

Naturally, a mobile publisher(http://www.pagestreamer.com/pricing.html) can get great advantages from this kind of technology. First of all from the point of view of their backoffice because they will be able of managing subscriptions, of studying download and usage statistics, monitoring relevant information about their audience: it would be easy to understand the exact geographic distributions of readers, the most interesting stories, the advertisement performance or usage hours.

8080 will provide publishers with a unique, fully branded and custom designed iPhone application allowing their readers to access the issues available within their existing or newly purchased subscription.

Even another special service will be offered: if the story text is available, in fact, 8080 will also produce an integrated, multilingual text-to-speech service: users will have the possibility to listen a podcast version of each newspaper story, read aloud by a high quality synthetic voice, directly on the iPhone.
