Bristol business defies recession

Redrock Consulting achieves growth of 131% in three years.

7 March 2010 – Bristol-based Redrock Consulting, provider of bespoke IT staffing solutions, is defying the economic downturn having been ranked 17th in The Sunday Times’ league table of 2009’s British private companies with the fastest-growing sales.

The Fast Track 100, which is published in The Sunday Times at the end of each year, has previously featured companies such as Innocent Smoothies, Dyson and The Carphone Warehouse.  Redrock, which was founded five years ago, secured its strong position in the league table by achieving annual sales growth of 131 per cent over three years.

One of the founding members, managing director Dean Harte, commented: “It’s fantastic to be recognised as one of the top British companies for sales growth.  The Fast Track 100 is a prestigious league table that has previously featured some very high profile companies, so we’re delighted to be a part of it.

“The business community has had a tough time over the last year or so, but as one of 12 Southwest companies featured in the list we feel the region has a very strong business offering and will be in a good position for recovery.”

Major recruitment consultancy Advanced Resource Managers is celebrating winning the first ever Institute of Recruitment Professionals Award for People Development

Thursday 26th November proved a night to remember for members of the ARM team attending the lavish IRP Awards ceremony in central London.

Hosted by broadcaster and former MP Gyles Brandreth, the ceremony saw 15 awards presented – the only industry accolades to be presented by the recruitment industry’s trade body.

Kevin Green, the REC’s Chief Executive, said of the awards: “This evening is just the start of a journey which could take between 10 and 15 years in realising our goal of professionalising the industry and attaining Chartered status.

“This all starts with the IRP members themselves; in giving them recognition and respect for bringing such value and high standards through their own individual capabilities.”

Good salespeople should act now to gain competitive advantage in a tough market

In the world of Sales Recruitment, December is the month that we all dread: Companies delaying implementing recruitment programs until the new calendar year, festive parties taking priority over reviewing CVs, the market generally in wind down mode and a high volume of applicants applying for a relatively small number of vacancies. This year, the Sales Recruitment Team at Advanced Resource Managers has seen a shift away from that trend.

“ARM’s IT Sales Recruitment and Technical Sales Recruitment teams are currently assigned to a high number of Business to Business Sales Opportunities,” said Paul Fairclough, a Senior Consultant at the recruitment and training firm.

“Budgets have been approved, headcount confirmed, clients need the right individual in place yesterday and are encouraging us to send CVs and arrange interviews right up to the final mark of this calendar year,” he said. According to Fairclough, the only thing missing is the usual level of applicants.

After a testing year for many it appears that many high calibre Sales Professionals are using the run up to Christmas and the New Year as a period of recovery and are delaying identifying that next progressive career move.

This delay, whilst understandable, could be counterproductive for some. ARM expects high application volumes at the start of 2010 in line with a more positive outlook within the technical sales arena. If this is borne out, it will result in increased responses to vacancies and slower recruitment processes.

“My advice to all sales professionals looking for a new role or keeping a tentative eye open for that next challenge is simply this: you’re used to staying ahead of the competition, don’t forget that this can be a great time to gain that competitive advantage while other professionals may take their eye off the ball, however briefly,” Fairclough said.
