Australian IT Service Management Firm Wins Two Service Awards

December 31st, 2010

This year, Breed Lewis of Macanta Consulting has recognised as an inspiring entrepreneur by the Anthill Magazine in their inaugural 5over50 awards night.
Breed took out one of the coveted top five spots in AnthillMagazine’s highly contested awards, and in doing so has been recognised as an inspiring leader from a generation that was not reared on the virtues of entrepreneurship.

Breed has only started her business with Karen Ferris in the last few years and it has quickly become regarded as one of the foremost in their industry, which is IT service management. They offer services such as ITSM services and ITIL consulting from their office in Melbourne. In recent times they have expanded to service clients across the pacific rim.

“We all now understand that the Australia population is aging and, as a result, numerous
programs have recently emerged to promote entrepreneurship among young Australians,”
said James Tuckerman, editor-in-chief of Anthill Magazine and founder of these awards.

“But, as baby boomers are nearing retirement, isn’t there an equal imperative to foster a
culture of business creation among this set — baby-boomers who have discovered the joys,
thrills, spills and rewards of entrepreneurship later in life?”

The 5under50 Awards recognise entrepreneurs who are over 50, Australian and have set up
a new business in the last five years.

“We didn’t want the 5over50 to simply provide another round of accolades for the same
small set of already well-known industry leaders, who have spent a lifetime dedicated to
business development,” said Tuckerman.

“Rather, to trigger real attitudinal change, it made more sense for us to identify and create
new role-models — five inspiring stories of people who have uprooted their lives, later in life,to pursue entrepreneurial ventures, out of both passion and necessity.”

Along with this award for business services, Karen Ferris was accredited with the title of ‘Fellow’ by the Professional Recognition for IT Service Management programme. There are five different levels of accreditation possible in priSM, with the fifth level being ‘Fellow’ This title is reserved for senior professionals who have been recognised as making a significant contribution to the service management profession and its improving its body of knowledge.

All of the candidates for priSM memberships have their qualifications and experience evaluated and validated by qualified professionals. This is always a thorough, objective and multi-level assessment of criteria such as the candidates ITSM experience, education, knowledge and skill set. EverypriSM member must abide by a strict code of ethics and recognised good practices to be sure that the standards of professional behaviour are always maintained at the highest level.

Karen Ferris said after receiving the title, “I am delighted and honoured to have been accepted as a priSM Fellow. It is this sort of recognition that makes all the hard work worthwhile. This is a great Christmas present!”
