Battle of the sexes boosts Kwik Fit Insurance sales

July 3rd, 2009

July 2009 – Kwik Fit Insurance (KFI) played host to a battle of the sexes on Monday as they undertook their second major sales day of 2009.

The day, which saw the firm negotiate discounts for its customers, was a huge success as KFI enjoyed some of it’s strongest sales figures since it began trading in 1995.

Numbers of car insurance policies rocketed with almost 1300 new policies sold, resulting in the intermediary’s fifth strongest sales day for car insurance on record. In addition to strong car insurance figures, KFI also benefited from a surge in home insurance policy sales as the company continues to make a concerted effort to build it’s presence in the home insurance market. The sales day proved to be the second strongest day for home insurance policy sales on record.

In order to install some competitive spirit into the business on the day, staff were pitched into a battle of the sexes as boys competed against girls in a series of physical and mental activities. In addition, the challenge was set to see who would take in the most sales on the day and it was the boys who eventually triumphed after the twelve hour contest.

Alan Brown, Director of Operations at Kwik Fit Insurance, was delighted with the success of the day: “The success of our sales day does not happen by chance. There is an enormous amount of work that goes into ensuring our customers receive the full benefit of these events, from the discounts negotiated by our Insurer Development team, through the marketing and promotion of the day and onto the dedication and hard work of everyone within our sales team.”

As well as car and home insurance, Kwik Fit Insurance provides an extensive range of business insurance products aimed at small to medium sized enterprises, breakdown cover, motorcycle and van insurance, as well as travel and pet insurance.

Not so neighbourly Britain

June 21st, 2009

June 2009 – Leading insurance intermediary Kwik Fit Insurance is calling on British households to spend more time getting to know their neighbours this European Neighbours Day.

A survey commissioned by the broker reveals that relationships between neighbours in the UK’s towns and villages seem to have hit rock bottom, with 4 out 5 people claiming to not know their neighbour and many facing regular problems with noise disturbance from next door.

Interestingly, the stereotypical ‘nosey neighbour’ famously portrayed by TV’s favourite soap characters Mo Slater in Eastenders and Norris Cole in Coronation Street appears to be commonplace within Britain’s communities, with the survey revealing that over one third of British householders actually consider themselves to be a nosey neighbour.

While the survey of over 2000 householders paints a picture of the erosion of community spirit on our streets, there are also encouraging signs that Brits would like to change the situation, and work closer with their fellow residents to improve their neighbourhood.

A staggering 81 percent of those questioned said they would like to be more active in their communities and sign up to a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.

Brendan Devine, Group Managing Director of Kwik Fit Financial Services, said: “The results of our survey have thrown up some interesting statistics regarding life in today’s British suburbs.. We believe that closer communities can lead to safer communities and we hope that on European Neighbours Day, more Brits will spend some time making friends with their neighbours.”

Roy Rudham, Chair of the UK Neighbourhood Watch Trust, said: “Good neighbours can make a real difference in helping to build safer communities for everyone.

“The results of Kwik Fit Insurance’s survey are very encouraging with over 80% of people saying that they would like to join a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme. If more people were active in supporting their local Neighbourhood Watch, we would create safer environments for our families.”

From Torremolinos to Torquay – don’t scrimp on travel insurance

June 11th, 2009

June 2009 – Cash-conscious Brits planning to spend their summer break in the UK this year are being urged to take out adequate travel insurance by Kwik Fit Insurance.

The leading insurance intermediary is warning that travel insurance is often the first thing to go when people are trying to cut costs. But insurance for holidaying at home is just as important as taking out a policy when you go abroad.

Kwik Fit Insurance managing director Brendan Devine, said: “Most people take out holiday insurance if they’re going to Torremolinos but they tend not to think about it if they are heading off for a week in Torquay. It’s important to remember that it’s just as easy to lose money or luggage in the West Country or the Highlands of Scotland as it in when going abroad.”

Kwik Fit Insurance surveyed thousands of people across the UK as part of its summer home insurance survey to find out how belt-tightening is affecting their spending habits.

- Almost 1 in 5 people admitted they had been on holiday without taking out travel insurance.

- Fifty percent of those questioned said they would still take a holiday this summer despite the economic downturn.

- However, 83 percent, 8 out of 10, said they would not go in to debt to fund a holiday.

Brendan Devine added: “The annual summer holiday is a major expense and people are thinking twice about paying for it on a credit card or overdraft given the current economic climate. Travel insurance really doesn’t add much to the cost of your holiday – not only does it give peace of mind, it also ensures that you don’t end up with additional expense when you get home if something goes wrong.”

Checking your car insurance is up-to-date is also a must if you are travelling long distances in the UK this summer.
