Market Survey Shows Transcreation Achieving Double-digit Growth

April 14th, 2010

Latest translation and localization industry research report from Common Sense Advisory shows the majority of transcreation projects relate to international marketing and advertising.

BOSTON, MA – April 12, 2010 — As companies attempt to sell their products and services to more demographics in more markets around the world, they are discovering that they must adapt or recreate their messaging and content through a process called “transcreation.” A new report from market research firm Common Sense Advisory, “Reaching New Markets through Transcreation,” confirms growing demand for transcreation services through 2010.

The firm’s survey of 380 language services industry respondents revealed that transcreation is not only here to stay, but on the rise. Twenty-five percent of those surveyed stated that they expect transcreation – as a percentage of total translation activities – to grow between six and 10 percent during 2010, while almost 30 percent anticipate that it will increase by more than 10 percent.

Common Sense Advisory’s enterprise globalization strategist Rebecca Ray notes, “The key word is resonance in local markets – whether it’s a market defined by geography or one defined by language and culture within a larger domestic market.”

The report details how the “internet of things” – mobile devices, cars, cameras, appliances, roadways, and pipelines – projected to be composed of a trillion devices by 2011, is a key driver for the increase in transcreation demand.

The report also includes:

* Analysis of data from 380 survey respondents related to the various definitions of transcreation, growth in demand, industries that purchase transcreation most frequently, types of content where transcreation is most common, who owns the budget, and how the services are priced
* Insights from 30 interviews with decision makers and practitioners on how to build and maintain the transcreation ecosystem, adapt workflow, and ensure quality
* Why transcreation is just as relevant in home markets as in foreign markets
* Implications for SEO
* Ten steps that will enable buyers to achieve transcreation quality

International businesses and providers of translation and localization services can benefit from knowing when, why, and how to incorporate transcreation into their workflows and product offerings.

Adds Ms. Ray, “Over the last five years, the larger buyers of language services have focused on rationalizing and automating the globalization function within their organizations. One of the most important findings that emerged from our research is that this investment now allows more budget for the transcreation of strategic content that can really impact their bottom line.”

“Reaching New Markets through Transcreation” is the latest in a series of research reports produced by Common Sense Advisory that focus on transcreation and international marketing.

4G and WiMAX for the Smart Grid: Enabling Access, Applications and Affordability

February 2nd, 2010

Any smart grid is a telecommunications network for the utility and the communities it serves. 4G technologies provide any power utility with the most cost effective technology in monitoring the grid from power production to power consumption. Not only will a 4G smart grid read meters, they will also provide a range of cost saving services to the utility and the community as a whole. Mind Commerce’s new research 4G and WiMAX for the Smart Grid: Enabling Access, Applications and Affordability proposes WiMAX as a Last Mile or “Access” solution to provide a range of smart grid solutions or “Applications” which, when compared with other smart grid technologies such as Broadband over Power Line (BPL) come in at less than half the cost per household reached offering industry leading “Affordability” figures.

The research indicates that given the dilemma of US Department of energy awarding billions of dollars in smart grid grants while standards making bodies dither in providing the industry with standards, the power industry should look to the latest and greatest standards in telecommunications (Internet Protocol and 4G technologies such as WiMAX) to take advantage of federal dollars available for smart grid deployments while saving money on operating expenses. In addition, the deployment of a 4G network would enable the utility to offer wholesale and retail telecommunications services contributing new revenue streams for the utility while shortening the Return on Investment (ROI).

Any utility manager studying their smart grid options is no doubt concerned about the security of any smart grid network (foreign agents have been known to attempt to hack some parts of the US power grid), Quality of Service (QoS) issues, reliability of the technology and the potential for harmful interference to take down their smart grid network. This publication tackles those objections head-on in easy-to-understand language addressing both Last Mile and Middle Mile portions of a 4G smart grid network.

Most importantly, the paper analyses a BPL deployment in Boulder, Colorado where the power utility deployed a BPL-based smart grid at a cost of $1,000 per household reached. The research finds that a more powerful, mobile, 4G, standards-based network could have been deployed at a cost of $440 per household reached. The financial analysis offers a worksheet for power utilities to determine return on investment.

With its exhaustive analysis of 4G and smart grid, there is no other research currently available as comprehensive as 4G and WiMAX for the Smart Grid: Enabling Access, Applications and Affordability.

Key Findings:

4G Smart Grid can be deployed at half the cost of broadband over Power Line (BPL) via an off-the-shelf solution
Incremental revenue streams can be enjoyed via wholesaling telecommunications services supported by 4G smart grid applications
4G smart grid solutions provide utilities with cost savings on internal operations (mobile work force applications, etc)
Ubiquitous broadband services can be realized through the deployment of 4G in the power utilities’ market providing greater efficiencies for smart grid subsidies

Target Audience:

Power utilities companies
Renewable energy companies
Telecommunications service providers
Telecommunications vendors seeking entry to the smart grid market
Government regulatory authorities
Power sector vendors
Telecommunications and utility investors

New Report “Companion Biomarkers in Drug Development” available through Aarkstore Enterprise

September 8th, 2009

The term “companion biomarker” means that a particular diagnostic test is specifically linked to a therapeutic drug either in drug development or in the clinic. Biomarkers of disease have long played an important role in diagnostic medicine as evidenced by the intense use of specific clinical laboratory tests in the diagnosis of disease. Biomarkers can be used in five very distinct ways in drug development: 1) companion biomarkers can be correlated with biological events during drug development in order to validate drug targets or to predict drug response; 2) biomarkers can be used as companion diagnostics in drug development to characterize patient populations in order to better understand the extent to which new drugs reach intended therapeutic targets can alter proposed therapeutic pathways and achieve successful clinical outcomes; 3) biomarkers can be used to stratify patient populations for drug response in primary prevention or disease-modification studies, particularly in specific clinical areas such as neuron degeneration and cancer; 4) clinically useful biomarkers are becoming increasingly useful to make proper therapeutic decisions regarding candidate drugs; and 5) clinically useful biomarkers are becoming increasingly required by the FDA and other outside authorities to make proper regulatory decisions regarding candidate drugs. This report describes new biomarker technology platforms developed for the analyses of drug targets that are connected to the effectiveness of therapeutic agents in a clinical setting. The emphasis is on those companies that are actively developing and marketing new companion diagnostic tests for performing biomarker tests during drug development, as opposed to the more routine and clinically accepted companion markers that are manufactured and marketed by large diagnostic companies for routine clinical use.
