Is There a Ghost in Your Basement? Maybe it Can Help You Discover Your Legacy!
October 13th, 2011(Orange County, CA – October 9, 2011) Rémy Chaussé knows Halloween can be creepy, but not as creepy as finding a ghost in your basement. The problem is, people are too busy to see the hidden opportunities in negative situations. As an optimism expert, though, she knows that ANY negative can be turned into a positive, simply by looking for the hidden message within it. She provides simple solutions in her best-selling book, “Living Life As An Exclamation Point!”
So what if there’s a ghost in the basement – is that a negative thing? “Well, for me, it ended up being a great metaphor,” Rémy said. “I was witness to my grandmother’s mischievous ghost named Alfonso one summer, when he would play music boxes, turn on water faucets, and even cover guests with blankets. Years later, I was turning my own house upside-down looking for my passport, when I jokingly just gave up, saying ‘Alfonso must have it.’ But I couldn’t let it go … I had to take this potentially negative situation and turn it into a positive. The hidden message was that the upcoming trip actually represented something I felt very passionate about, and I realized how important it is to stay on-course when there’s something that impassions you beyond explanation. Instead of giving up, I actually spent an entire day driving to the federal passport office to make a new passport materialize … a nearly-impossible journey of fighting red tape with only one day before departure. As it turned out, I ended up writing a best-selling book because of Alfonso! So you might find the key to your passions in the most unexpected ways.”
When looking for your passions in life, Rémy advises her readers to look at the everyday situations and the hidden opportunities within them. Step One: know that any negative can be turned into a positive simply by asking, “What’s the positive in this?” If you can find one positive thing, you’re headed in the right direction. If you can find five positive things, the pressure of the obstacle begins to release. If you can make a list of 20 positive things, now you are beginning to unveil your passions. Step Two: don’t allow yourself to get stuck in any situation. Instead, find your one unique strength in life, and work to that strength, because that strength is probably one of your passions. Step Three: recognize that there’s no such thing as an obstacle, unless you see it as such. It’s presenting you with an opportunity, and that opportunity is asking you to evolve. What’s the evolution? To discover your purpose in life!
What’s the positive thing about having a ghost in your basement? He just might be the right metaphor to help you find your legacy!
