The Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce Hosting 1st Annual Hospitality Blood Drive

December 21st, 2009

In response to a request for help from Florida Blood Services, “Give the Gift of Life” was created as the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce’s 1st Annual Hospitality Blood Drive and will commence on Thursday, September 10th.

Clearwater, FL, September 9, 2009 – Teaming up with Florida Blood Services, the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce will be hosting their 1st Annual “Give the Gift of Life” Hospitality Blood Drive on Thursday, September 10th from 1pm – 6pm at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites on S. Gulfview Blvd. on Clearwater Beach.  The blood drive was created by the Chamber in an answer to help FBS.  According to fbsblood.org, the overall current total blood supply is low.  The counts are as follows:

·         O+ and AB- are at the “Minimum Safe Level” = a 2-day available supply, but not enough blood to release to take care of patients in a major trauma or emergency.

·         A+, B+ and AB+ are at the “Preferred Level” = a 3-day available supply or more, which is enough blood for one major emergency to strike.

To make the inaugural hospitality blood drive fun, all lifesaving donors will receive:
·         a pirate themed T-shirt;
·         a coupon from Pirates Dinner Adventure for a buy-one-ticket, get-one-FREE;
·         a chance to find the “Lucky Treasure” that includes a 2-night stay at the Crowne Plaza Orlando Universal; 2 FREE entry tickets to Pirates Dinner Adventure; and
·         a $50 gas card.

In addition to the prizes, wellness check-ups and cholesterol screenings will be awarded.  Food and beverages will also be served.

Clearwater Chamber Tackling Awareness Issues for Not-For-Profit Organizations

December 9th, 2009

Deciding to tackle awareness issues among its membership, the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce decided to do something about the fact that the Not-For-Profit membership does not often interact with each other to share information, resources or form any types of strategic partnerships.

Clearwater, FL, July 31, 2009 – What is the number one challenge facing Not-For-Profit Organizations in the Clearwater area?  That is the question the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce (CRCC) recently posed to 91 of their Not-For-Profits member organizations.  This survey determined that “Awareness” of a Not-For-Profit’s mission and focus to be a priority not only with the general public but within the CRCC Not-For-Profit membership. Deciding to tackle awareness issues among its membership first, the CRCC decided to do something about the fact that the Not-For-Profit membership does not often interact with each other to share information, resources or form any types of strategic partnerships.  As part of overcoming the challenge the CRCC hosted the first Not-For-Profit Awareness and Information event on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at the Clearwater Community Sailing Center.

The event was open to all Not-For-Profit organizations, whether they were members or not, in order to create an even greater “awareness” and to encourage as much interaction as possible.  “What a fantastic event and turnout.  I was able to meet many wonderful people and find out more about the organizations in our community and how we could work together”, said Karen Milne – Community Outreach Coordinator Project Grace.

The CRCC will continue to move forward to address the issues of our Not-For-Profit member organizations.  We will provide both social and educational events that will help them achieve the awareness they desire.  We will also make available the tools they need to assist them in meeting the challenges they are facing in this economy and in the future.

Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce Expands Reach to Not-for-Profits

December 4th, 2009

Through its grassroots movement to help businesses, the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce (CRCC) is reaching out to not-for-profit organizations as awareness of their needs rise to the forefront.

Clearwater, FL, July 21, 2009 – In a recent study of their membership, the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce (CRCC) found close to 100 not-for-profit members on their roster.  The Chamber then created a council to address the specific needs of these charitable organizations and after surveying the not-for-profit member organizations, it was determined that “Awareness with other Not-For-Profit organizations” was a top priority.  In response to this request, the CRCC is announcing its first Introduction & Awareness Event for not-for-profit business organizations.  The event will be held on Thursday, July 30th from 5:30-7:30pm at the Clearwater Community Sailing Center.

The Introduction & Awareness Event will provide several opportunities:
·         For not-for-profit organizations to get acquainted,
·         To talk about issues concerning them in today’s business climate,
·         To share the scope of services they provide and
·         To start to develop relations that can be mutually beneficial.

“We have to go outside the box.  It’s no longer just cocktails and networking,” Chamber President Bob Clifford said.  Mr. Clifford encourages all business, for profit or not-for-profit, to reach out and make contacts.  ”Making [business] contacts is more crucial than ever today,” he said.

The CRCC says all not-for-profits organizations are welcome.  If you would like to attend you MUST RSVP before the Monday July 27th deadline. Please contact Cathy Germer, VP Business Assistance for the CRCC by calling 727 461-0011 ext 233 or via email at cgermer@clearwaterflorida.org.

Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce Hosts Their Annual Legislative Breakfast

November 26th, 2009

CLEARWATER, Fla., June 2009 – This morning the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce was proud to host six of Pinellas County’s legislators at their annual legislative breakfast at the Clearwater Harborview Center.

Issues surrounding transportation, education, growth management, tax burdens, gaming compact, and property insurance were just a few of the issues discussed.  Ed Armstrong, moderator of the event posed frank and tough questions to each legislator and received very thoughtful and forthright responses.  Legislators present included: Senator Mike Fasano, Senator Dennis Jones, Representative Ed Hooper, Representative Jim Frishe, Representative Janet Long, and Representative Bill Heller.

The legislators gave a great deal of history regarding decisions made over time that help explain many of the situations we are currently facing as a result of unintended consequences.  Decisions such as Save our Homes and constitutional mandates have facilitated imbalances and significant funding challenges.  They all expressed their concern for the ability of the state to have sustainability over the long term.

The Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce applauds their leadership in making decisions that impacted the lives of every Floridian during these very difficult and unprecedented economic times.  With our mission to enhance the business environment and promote economic health and growth in the Clearwater region, we encourage all of our lawmakers to step up and demonstrate real leadership in making this state a place where businesses can continue to grow and create jobs.

Again we congratulate our legislators on a successful session and thank them for their leadership.  We encourage all of our members to work independently and in partnership with the Chamber to meet with our legislative delegation to discuss the future business needs for our county and state.

Canadian Recruiting Company Enters Unique Strategic Alliances with Leading Staffing Companies from Russia

Bilingual Experts, a Canadian recruiting company serving clients since 1974 – entered unique strategic alliances with leading Russian staffing firms.

Toronto, ON, November 04, 2009 — In today’s global economy, having top-notch professionals on board means the difference between failure and success. However, more often than not North American companies – true leaders in such industries as mining, oil and gas, transportation and manufacturing – experience considerable difficulties in filling positions requiring unique sets of skills and decades of professional experience.

This can be explained by the fact that most of such professionals from North America are already happily employed and rather unwilling to switch jobs. Not having the right expertise costs companies between tens and hundreds of thousand of dollars every day. On the other hand, top-notch highly educated specialists with unique sets of skills can be found in Russia and CIS countries. Advantages of attracting such professionals are obvious. Nevertheless, in most cases recruiting companies from Canada and the US prefer to refrain from dealing with Russia, referring to enormous bureaucratic, legal and cultural difficulties. And this is true.

As a result, North American corporations in mining, oil and gas, transportation and manufacturing industries miss access to a vast pool of highly qualified candidates and, thus, lose between tens and hundreds of thousand of dollars every day due to the lack of the right expertise.

To address that acute demand, Bilingual Experts (www.bilingualexperts.com) – a Canadian recruiting company serving clients since 1974 – entered unique strategic alliances with leading Russian staffing firms. Our partners are such highly successful recruiting companies as Akme Services, Almaz Personnel, CheckMates, Grand Personal, Russian Personnel and Staff Standard. Each company proved to be a true expert and has its specialization.

Through their alliances, Bilingual Experts can now locate fast and cost-effectively on behalf of North American corporations candidates with unique education, skills and experience in such industries as mining, oil and gas, transportation, manufacturing and IT. Directly dealing with the reputable Canadian company – Bilingual Experts – is a guarantee that highest quality standards are met. Being able to satisfy your highly specialised staffing needs fast, cost-effectively and hassle-free with our help will provide you with a cutting edge over your competition.

Bilingual Experts are committed to complete satisfaction of their clients.

ResQ Track & Trace changes name to ResQ Mobile Services

June 12th, 2009

Effective immediately, ResQ Track & Trace will be known and carry on business internationally as ResQ Mobile Services, according to Chad Hughes, ResQ founder and president. After operating in Canada for four years, and establishing many critical strategic relationships, the company recently began an expansion plan to acquire marketshare in the US. “When we launched in 2005, we were tracking vehicles exclusively,” Hughes explains. “The company has grown a lot since then and, based on demand in the marketplace, we thought it was the right time for a name change and one that reflected the realities of our evolving customer base.”

ResQ currently offers an end-to-end asset management and communication system for the transportation and logistics industries, and last month introduced a new product called Trackberry™ for smartphone users. Historically, ResQ has sold an integrated system to fleet managers to effectively monitor their assets in real-time and access numerous reports online. “We’ve been asked to track temperature changes within refrigerated containers, media screens within transit shelters and lightbulbs within industrial developments,” Hughes continues. “We can do all those things, and more, but people still think we only track trucks.”

ResQ introduced Trackberry™, which is downloaded and installed onto any GPS-enabled device, to track mobile employees. The application relays at regular intervals its location that is conveyed to users through a secure web portal. This is currently an enterprise solution enabling employers to track sales and service personnel in the field and acquire automatically a record of their activities. A stripped-down version for consumers, Findr™, will be released shortly to enable parents to track their wandering teenagers, young children and in fact parents of parents.

ResQ offers real-time asset management systems using GPS technology to enhance mobile communications and wireless business processes. After deploying a ResQ system, our clients obtain the tools they need to attain measurable results and the necessary data for efficient management of their resources and customers. ResQ delivers industry leading applications for location tracking, identification, security and workforce management. With a national footprint and expanding offices servicing markets across North America, ResQ mobile asset management systems support the transportation, logistics and service industries.
