Volunteer at Centro Maria Auxiliadora in Nicaragua

July 7th, 2009

This mission enables impoverished Nicaraguan children and their families in under-served communities to break the cycle of poverty and reach their full potential through programs promoting nutrition, education, health and through community and character development. Fabretto’s programs are unique in that they engage children in early childhood and continuing through adulthood, providing them with the comprehensive continuum of support they need to become productive citizens and community leaders. Working with communities that have suffered decades of poverty and helplessness, Fabretto strives to empower its participants to pull themselves, their families, their communities, and their country out of poverty by stressing the importance of hard work, integrity, personal responsibility, the pursuit of excellence. Those who work hard will be rewarded with college education through scholarships, not only in Nicaragua but the US as well. There are five main campuses (Esteli, Somoto, Managua, Quebrada Honda, San Jose de Cusmapa) serving approximately 2000 children. Fabretto is also involved with an additional 3000 children in extremely rural areas where they go into the schools and provide services on site. This placement needs volunteer to reinforce the kids with their regular classes and offer additional classes such as computer courses, music and hands-on work. They also work with a pre-school where they need lots of help to take care of the little ones.
