The Wedding Gown of Queen Mother’s is Most Wanted
February 17th, 2011Queen mother would have never even had thought in her wildest dream that her dress would have gained so much appreciation in the present era i.e after so many years. It was just an amazing gown worn by amazing lady years back but today it has been considered as an historic gown with its prototype being sold at £3,500 in Bristol. It was just a usual fine art auction with all vintage material held by Dreweatts. They never expected it would fetch them more than £700. All of a sudden, it grabbed eyeballs and stole hearts. It was meticulously designed by Madame Handley Seymour. She would have been elated with the kind of appreciation it has received today.
The fashion designers have an opinion that it can by no means be considered as a gown of the ancient time and that too that was worn in a majestic wedding. They feel it has a very elegant and sophisticated look along with the fabric seems quite light and hence seems unique and contemporary.
At the time when it was by Lady Elizabeth Bowes was getting married to Prince Albert in January 1923, the wedding itself was exceptional. They went for a marriage that was witnessed by the public without opting for the obvious grand magnificent marriage. Perhaps that is the reason why the dress was unfussy and not after the devastation of World War.
This wedding gown was selected among the three suggested by the designer.
Mr Claridge is however not surprised with the high selling price of this wedding gowns. He believes it all happened at the right place at the right time.
